Bolder Front Fascia With Larger Grille & Redesigned Bumper

MG Hector 2026 & New Hector Plus New Details & Clear Image

The most noticeable change on the 2025 MG Hector Facelift is its significantly larger grille, now featuring a bold vertical honeycomb pattern with chrome detailing. Unlike the studded chrome design of the outgoing model, this new arrangement gives the SUV a more upright, premium stance. A mildly reworked bumper adds a grey accent around the lower air dam, lending the front end a more layered look. The split-headlamp layout remains unchanged, though the surrounding styling tweaks help refresh the overall identity.

Exterior changes extend to the rear as well, where a revised tail-lamp cluster, redesigned bumper, and new alloy wheels are expected. Reports also hint at a new blue paint shade, which will join the existing palette and become a highlight of the facelift. Inside, the cabin layout is expected to continue largely unchanged, apart from new upholstery combinations and refreshed interior colours to keep things visually modern.

Updated Touchscreen & Tech Enhancements Expected

2026 MG Hector & Hector Plus

While MG already offers one of the largest infotainment screens in the segment, the facelift may introduce a bigger and more responsive touchscreen, improving on the current 14-inch unit. The model is also expected to retain premium features such as panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, multi-colour ambient lighting, wireless phone charging

Additionally, the 2026 model year will introduce gesture-based controls, a major usability upgrade with 3-finger swipe for Volume, track selection, and 2-finger swipe for AC temperature and blower speed. These gestures significantly reduce the need to dive into menus, addressing long-standing usability issues with touch-dependent systems. The 2026 Hector and Hector Plus will gain 10GB RAM (combined physical + virtual), which should improve system fluidity and app switching. The 360-degree camera system will also be upgraded with higher-resolution lenses for clearer visibility.

Powertrain: No Mechanical Changes Expected

MG Hector Plus

MG is expected to continue offering the Hector facelift with its familiar pair of powertrains. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will deliver 143 PS and 250 Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT, while the 2.0-litre diesel will continue producing 170 PS and 350 Nm, mated exclusively to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Both engines will retain their front-wheel-drive layout. While segment rivals are beginning to move toward hybrid and mild-hybrid technologies, MG appears confident in its current petrol-diesel strategy.

The facelifted MG Hector and Hector Plus will be launched on December 15, 2025. Expected pricing is Rs 15 lakh- Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict

The 2025 MG Hector facelift does not reinvent the SUV but brings the right set of improvements, a more assertive front design, refreshed colours, software upgrades, and gesture-based convenience features that directly address user feedback. With mechanical reliability carried over and a tech-forward approach maintained, the Hector remains a strong contender in the fast-evolving mid-size SUV space. If MG complements these updates with competitive pricing, the refreshed Hector could continue to be one of the most feature-loaded and value-driven offerings in its class.
