Should I buy the Tiago?
The TATA TIAGO is a great hatchback with good comfort, cool features, and most importantly strong build quality on offer. It has smooth ride quality and its small size makes it easy for daily commutes in city conditions. It's easy to maintain and if in case you are still not convinced about the Tiago, then you can check other options like Maruti Celerio, and Hyundai Grand I10 Nios.
- The design language of the Tiago and Tigor are very similar. Talking about Tiago's front design, it has a black grill with chrome accents connecting the headlamps. The chrome line running connecting both the headlamps provides an aesthetically pleasing design. It has a projector setup with halogen lights and the illumination is decent at night. The LED DRLs are located near the fog lamps providing a premium appearance to the Tiago.
- Coming to the side, it has 15” alloy wheels which have a good design language with a dual-tone scheme. The door handles get a subtle use of chrome to provide simple elegance. The ORVMs are painted in black color giving a dual-tone treatment appearance.
- Talking about the rear profile of the Tiago, it continues to have a simple design of the boot. It gets rear wipers and washers with de-foggers which is a nice feature on offer. The subtle chrome strip on the tailgate provides a simplistic elegance to the rear profile.
- Considering the boot space, it has 242 L of boot space that accommodates a decent amount of stuff inside it. The competition offers a greater practicality of the boot space with more space inside.
Tiago body specifications:
| Wheel Size | R13, R14 & R15 |
| Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
| Ground Clearance | 170 mm |
| Boot Space | 242 liters |

- As we step inside the cabin of Tiago, it provides a sense of airiness in the cabin. The dual-tone treatment on the dashboard gives a premium appearance. The dashboard is neatly laid out with both physical and touchscreen features.
- Talking about the features on offer, its automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, along with cruise control. These features are good to have in the vehicle and some more features like ventilated seats, and wireless chargers could have been game changers in the segment.
- The plastic quality of the cabin could be improved. The touch and feel of the cabin are decent and some hard scratchy plastics take away the joy of a premium experience of the cabin.
- The TATA TIAGO comes equipped with a 1.2 L 3-cylinder petrol engine that is powering other sibling cars as well. It is a decent performing motor but refinement is an issue.
- Considering the power figures, this 1.2 L 3-cylinder engine produces 83 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque. This is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT transmission. The clutch is light enough so driving manual in the city conditions won't be an issue. The AMT transmission is felt to lack some bite and shifts could have been improved and can be much smoother.
- The 3-cylinder engine effect can be felt inside the cabin since the vibrations it produces are prominent inside the cabin on the ideal stage.
- Talking about fuel economy, in city conditions, it would return somewhere near 14-16 km/L depending on your driving style.
- The seating comfort of the Tiago is on the premium side. The seats offer great cushioning and the cabin is spacious enough.
- The front seats offer a plush experience with leather seats and there are no second thoughts about it. The height-adjustable driver seat is a great feature on offer.
- As far as the rear seats are concerned, they are great in terms of comfort. The suspension of the Tiago is on the softer side and potholes and bumps do not filter inside the cabin. One drawback is that the cabin isn’t wide, so accommodating 3 passengers at the rear can be a tight fit.
- The feel and feedback from the steering wheel are great. In city conditions, it might feel heavy but out on highways, it weighs up decently well and provides confidence in driving at triple-digit speeds.
