2023 Royal Enfield Scrambler bike has been spied on for the first time in India. The upcoming Scrambler features a new rugged design with technical changes.

Royal Enfield is working on a completely new range of 650cc bikes. One such model is the 2023 Royal Enfield Scrambler 650. The new Scrambler is already under development as its test mules have been spied globally. However, the Scrambler 650 is spotted on Indian roads for the first time. 2023 Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 Details

Speaking of this new 650cc bike; it appears to be a scrambler. Meanwhile, there are no official details about what it is. However, a test bike similar to this was spotted testing near the RE's R&D headquarters in the UK. The test mule seen in India looks near production-ready. Meanwhile, the chassis and other technical components look shared with the Interceptor 650. However, there are some radical changes to make it a complete scrambler.

The first change is the use of an upright riding position. Seems like RE has sorted the rider triangle for a comfortable experience on the saddle. The seat is also a single-piece and looks cushioned well. However, it is the use of wired spoke rims and all-purpose tyres which give it a proper scrambler look. The front is unseen in the spy pics but the flyscreen is visible. RE offers this flyscreen as an optional accessory in its current 650 range. Additionally, there are also dummy inserts for auxiliary fog lights at the front forks. The Scrambler 650 is using USD front suspension like the Super Meteor 650. Additionally, the rear suspension is a long-travel spring type. One can also notice the use of a new round LED taillight and round halogen indicators.

Engine & Specifications

It is a no-brainer that the Scrambler 650 is going to use the same engine as the Interceptor. The 648cc, parallel-twin, the oil-cooled engine is more than fine for global markets. This engine makes a peak power of 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-assist clutch is provided for seamless power delivery. The use of USD forks and the new tyres will enhance the riding experience on the Scrambler.

Additionally, another exciting change is the use of a 2-in-1 exhaust system. Unlike the current 650 twins, the Scrambler uses a single exhaust can for both cylinders.

Verdict

Royal Enfield is working hard to expand its portfolio internationally. The 650cc segment has worked like a charm for the company overseas. However, the Scrambler 650 is going to be a niche product with selective buyers. If RE prices it correctly like the Hunter 350; it can be a massive hit. However, we think that it won't be any time before the first quarter of 2023 that the bike is revealed.
