Ather 450X Gets Infinite Cruise; How Does It Work?

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Infinite Cruise rolled out via OTA update.
  • Persistent cruise control adapts to rider inputs.
  • Designed for urban traffic and low speeds.
  • Includes CityCruise, Hill Control, Crawl Control.
  • Backward compatible for 2025 Ather 450X owners.

Ather 450X: Ather Energy Ltd. has taken another step in strengthening its software-first approach by introducing Infinite Cruise on the Ather 450X. The new feature is being rolled out via an over-the-air (OTA) update and will be offered as a standard feature, with riders receiving an on-screen notification directly on the scooter's dashboard once the update is available.

Originally showcased on the Ather Apex 450 during Ather Community Day in August 2025, Infinite Cruise has been designed with Indian riding conditions in mind. Unlike conventional cruise control systems that are optimised for highways and higher speeds, this system focuses on urban use, where traffic is unpredictable, speeds are lower, and frequent acceleration or braking is unavoidable. How Infinite Cruise Works

Ather 450X

What sets Infinite Cruise apart is its persistent nature. Traditional cruise control systems typically switch off the moment a rider brakes or accelerates. In contrast, Ather's system stays active even after rider inputs. If the rider changes speed, the system automatically adjusts and continues cruising at the new pace, eliminating the need to re-engage the feature repeatedly. This makes it particularly useful in stop-and-go city traffic, helping reduce throttle fatigue during daily commutes.

Ather 450X: Real-World Riding

Infinite Cruise brings together multiple intelligent riding aids that go beyond the scope of standard cruise control.

  • CityCruise adjusts smoothly to fluctuating speeds in congested traffic.
  • Hill Control ensures consistent speed on slopes by compensating for load changes and using regenerative braking through Ather's Magic Braking Algorithm.
  • Crawl Control allows stable, low-speed movement on uneven or broken roads, with added support from Multimode Traction Control to maintain grip on slippery or wet surfaces.

Together, these features aim to make city riding more controlled, comfortable, and confidence-inspiring.

Ather 450X: Backward Compatibility for Existing Owners

Ather 450X

In a move that highlights Ather's long-term product planning, the company has confirmed that Infinite Cruise will also be extended to over 44,000 existing Ather 450X owners who purchased their scooters from January 1, 2025 onwards. This backward compatibility has been made possible due to the hardware architecture chosen during the development of the 2025 450 series, reinforcing Ather's commitment to long-term software support.

Paired with features such as Multimode Traction Control and Magic Twist, Infinite Cruise enhances everyday usability while adding an extra layer of safety and engagement for urban riders.
