Honda was the first bikemaker globally to introduce a flex-fuel motorcycle back in 2009. Then in 2022, Honda also said it will launch flex-fuel motorcycles in a phased manner. Now, the first Honda flex fuel bike is all set to be launched on October 20, and we believe it could likely be based on the CB300F.

Honda Flex Fuel Bike Details
The upcoming flex fuel bike from Honda could well be based on the CB300F flex fuel motorcycle, given that the bikemaker showcased a CB300F flex fuel concept bike earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Expo. No details about the specifications are known yet, obviously. However, we expect it to retain the same 293.5cc, oil-cooled engine with slightly altered outputs, and paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
The CB300F flex fuel bike is also likely to retain the same suspension and braking hardware, with USD forks and a monoshock, along with a 276mm disc and a 220mm disc setup at the front and the rear respectively. At 153kg, it is also considerably lighter than the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the KTM 250 Duke.

Why Flex Fuel?
Ethanol is a biodegradable energy source made from renewable plant sources. Flex fuel is a mixture of gasoline and ethanol, which is designed to run on an internal combustion engine after certain changes. The advantage is that ethanol burns cleaner than gasoline, thus releasing less toxic fumes into the environment. The Honda flex fuel bike is also likely to run on an 85% ethanol and 15% petrol mixture.
Verdict
With more manufacturers exploring alternative fuel sources, such as electric and more recently CNG, flex fuel is going to be another unique addition. With the upcoming flex fuel bike, Honda may not necessarily be looking for high volumes, but rather an understanding of the customer mindset with regards to flex fuel mobility and whether more such products should be rolled out here or not.
