Honda Shine 100 Specs Out - Hero Splendor Plus Gets More Power, But

Honda is nearing deliveries in the commuter segment with its Honda Shine 100. While it looks forward to challenging the Hero Splendor for the throne, its specs have been spotted in an RTO Approval filing document. Since its launch in March 2023, the bookings were already open. It is a 100cc motorcycle aiming to strike a balance between mileage and performance. But what do the leaks suggest as to where it could stand?

Let's find out the specs detail and what it promises against the behemoths the likes of Bajaj Platina and Hero Splendor Plus.

Honda Shine 100 Specs

With the pricing already out at the time of launch at Rs. 64,900, it sits at a sweet spot between the HF Deluxe and the Splendor Plus. The leaks suggest some more details about this Honda's upcoming workhorse.

It is coming powered by a 98.98 cc motor generating 5.43 kW or 7.43 PS of power. The torque figures are nowhere to be found in this particular image. But the power numbers already make one thing clear. The Hero Splendor Plus is the more powerful rival, at least on paper. In comparison, Splendor Plus has a 97.2 cc engine that makes 5.9 kW or 7.91 hp

The torque figures are yet to be disclosed, but they could be in the same ballpark as the Splendor Plus. How they fare against each other in real-world tests remains to be seen.

The main area of rivalry will be the mileage on offer. It could offer a mileage in the range of 62-68 kmpl like that of the Splendor Plus and Platina. The real-world mileage is still a dependent factor on a lot of cumulative factors.

Dimensions

Honda Shine 100 has a GVW (gross vehicle weight) of 269 kg. The bike is 1,955 mm long, 754 mm wide and 1,050 mm in height. Wheelbase is 1,245 mm. These numbers resemble very much that of Splendor, which measures 2000 X 720 X 1052 mm (Length X Width X height) and has a wheelbase of 1,236 mm. The seat height is just at a difference of 1 mm, which can be ignored.

VERDICT- The biggest segment currently in bikes is the commuter segment. But it will be difficult to dethrone the behemoths of this jungle, the Splendor Plus and the Bajaj Platina. The Honda Shine 100, however, gets the advantage of an already hero product name, the Shine legacy of the company. It will be interesting to see how they fare against each other in a full-blown war.
