The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has created a lot of chaos in the market. All thanks to effort & engineering; RE has successfully made its first big cruiser bike. Additionally, the hype of it is still not low and the number of bookings keeps increasing every day. However, a big question still remains unanswered. Should you buy it? If you're confused with this question in your head, read our detailed analysis of it below.

Royal Enfield Super Meter 650 - Understanding The Product

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

The Super Meteor is a big cruiser bike that has borrowed its appeal from its ancestors like Thunderbird. Meanwhile, its cruiser stance makes it even more desirable. But, before you head towards the showroom, make yourself clear about your being comfortable buying a cruiser. Why so? It is because it's a heavy bike. Not just in terms of dimensions but also in terms of weight (241 kg). In fact, it is the heaviest RE bike ever made. Hence, it is designed to use for a specific purpose i.e. cruising.

But, when we speak of cruising it is happy to do 90-100 kmph all day. Speeds above this cross the bar of the low-slung cruiser category. But, by any means it doesn't mean that it can't go above these speeds. All thanks to the 650cc parallel-twin engine; it can reach the access of up to 160 kmph. Also, it gets some first-ever equipment from RE. Things like USD forks, LED headlights, & tripper navigation make it a loaded bike. Additionally, it also gets alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. Moreover, it is also equipped with the biggest disc brake size that RE has ever put on any of its bikes. The front is 320mm while the rear is 300mm disc; making it come to a stop within seconds.

So, its an eye candy. It is meant to look good and it is meant to be enjoyable. Therefore, if you are proceeding towards the showroom, make your head clear about it. It is not meant for fast touring, it is not meant for quick drags but it can do both. We took it to the Himalayas and did an exclusive 750 km ride video review. If you've not seen it, please watch it below.

Things That Can Change Your Mind

While the SM 650 is a flagship bike, there are some things that you must know before you head to buy it. It has the USD forks at the front but those are a bit stiff. Similarly, the rear suspension is also stiff. This means that the ride on uneven surfaces will be felt by your tailbone. However, this suspension setup makes it very enjoyable on curvy roads with paved tarmac. Hence, it is solely meant for paved highways and curves. Meanwhile, its heavy body weight is not felt anyhow until you move it with your legs. SM 650 is super agile and much easier to ride in city traffic than its siblings like the Interceptor 650.

Also, the paint quality, the brushed aluminum switchgear, & the matte black chassis make it a premium bike. The overall build quality of it is much higher than its counterparts like the Continental GT 650. However, if you're confused between the Super Meteor 650 & the sibling bikes like the INterceptor 650; watch our detailed video comparison review below.

Verdict - Should You Buy It Or Not?

At Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Super Meteor is a premium bike. It is also the flagship model of the company. Hence, its overall build & features make it worth enough to be considered. However, with a few hiccups like the harsh ride quality and moderate comfort, it is still one of the best RE bikes ever made. It has all the premium features, it looks dashing on the road, & it is surely powerful. Therefore, if you're someone who loves to ride on curvy roads or plaint straight highways, or just weekend strolls; it is made for you. It will put a smile on your face with its design, its performance, & its feel (for which RE is known).
