New Nissan Compact Sedan Coming Soon To India - All Details

Nissan Group of Africa, Middle East and India (AMI) ) recently announced its comprehensive four-year strategy for the region under its Global Transformation Plan. With the help of these new strategies, Nissan aims to achieve sustainable growth, financial stability and profitability by the end of the fiscal year 2023. The Japanese car manufacturer announced that under its new global transformation strategy, the company will focus on two key aspects: 'Rationalization' and 'Prioritization and Focus.' So, the Nissan Group says that its new AMI strategy has been developed in line with Nissans global plan and is based on two strategic areas of Rationalization and Prioritization and Focus. Under Rationalization, the company wants to optimise its regional product portfolio by 20 per cent, increase the cost competitiveness of local production facilities and also wants to seek and enhance export opportunities from AMI plants. Under Prioritization and Focus, the company will take actions to build on key strengths in products, markets and technology. The company has confirmed that it will introduce eight new products in the AMI region within the next four years including a B-segment SUV and a B-segment sedan for the Indian market.

The B-segment SUV, i.e., the sub-4-metre compact SUV is already confirmed for India. It will be called the Nissan Magnite and was earlier about to be launched in August this year. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the launch has been pushed to January 2021. Nissan's alliance partner, Renault, will also launch a compact SUV in India in the last quarter of 2021 called the Renault Kiger. The Kiger and the Magnite will share their platform, engine and will be loaded with more or less same amount of features. However, both the SUVs will have a distinct identity to differentiate themselves from each other and to cater to all types of buyers.

Talking about the upcoming new Nissan Compact Sedan for India, there are very scarce details about this car at the moment but it is expected to hit the Indian showrooms by the end of 2021 or in 2022. The upcoming product will be a sub-4-metre sedan and will be based on the Renault-Nissan alliance's CMF-A platform. Since Nissan is betting on no diesel policy for India, we expect the sedan to get only a petrol engine. It will share its engine with the upcoming Nissan Magnite and is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The engine will come coupled to both a manual as well as an automatic transmission.

Commenting on the occasion, Nissan's Chief Operating Officer, Ashwani Gupta, said, Africa, Middle East and India is an important region where we will target investment in existing strengths, including SUV, and bring eight new products to the market. By driving efficiencies through the Alliance and focusing on core competencies, we will further increase the regions profitability, especially in key markets including the Gulf, South Africa and Egypt.

It seems that Nissan and Renault are trying their best to impress the Indian car buyers with their new products. Renault India is already enjoying a good time, all thanks to its affordable and capable new products like the Kwid hatchback, Triber MPV and the Duster SUV. Renault will soon launch the Kiger compact SUV too. Likewise, Nissan has also made a great comeback and recently the company has launched the 2020 Nissan Kicks BS6 which is now the most powerful SUV in its class. People have high expectations from the upcoming Nissan Magnite too which is scheduled to be launched in January 2021 and we expect that the upcoming sub-compact sedan will also definitely lure the buyers. Once launched, it will rival against the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, etc.
