What's New In The Ather 450X Overtone Series?

Ather Energy has recently launched a new series of the 450X, called the Overtone series, where customers will now get to choose from three new colour options, plus a new 900W fast charger that does 30% faster charging. There are other small additions to it, which give the 450X an edge, and the great part is that it's just Rs 1,000 more expensive, making it overall a great option for buyers looking for EVs. Now, let's take a deep dive into it and see what makes the Overtone series special.

Ather 450X Overtone

As the name suggests, the 450X will be available with multiple tones of colour, and they have introduced three colour options with it: Still White, Lunar Grey, and Space Grey. Out of these, the white and one grey are in a metallic shade, while the other grey is finished in a matte tone. The asking price for them is just Rs 1,000 more than the regular variant, so the starting ex-showroom price is Rs 1.64 lakh for the 2.9 kWh battery pack, and Rs 1.73 lakh for the bigger 3.5 kWh battery pack for long range.

Now, the other changes are that this gets a 900W fast charger, which is recorded to be 30% faster than regular units. For reference, it does a 0-80% home charge in just 3 hours for the 2.9 kWh, and 3 hours 12 minutes for the bigger 3.5 kWh.

Features like Infinite Cruise and voice command are also there. With the first one, you set the speed at 50 kmph, and the scooter will maintain this speed with the rider not giving any input to the throttle, making the ride effortless. Now, if any breaker or obstacle comes up, the rider applies the brake, and once the way is clear, twisting the throttle again will reactivate Infinite Cruise. This feature is operated via a button on the right side.

Another feature here is voice command - the 450X now comes with a 7-inch TFT screen which doesn't just have touch-based controls and navigation, but also supports voice command, so the rider can directly say "take me to Jantar Mantar" or "take me to Connaught Place," and it will open the map and set that location. Along with these, you also get Ather Stack 7, which includes:

  • New Dashboard UI
  • Live Tracker with Two-Wheeler Route Guidance
  • Google Vector Maps
  • AutoHold
  • Advanced Trip Planner
  • TrueRange (Real-Time Range Estimation)
  • Crash & Pothole Detection with Smart Alerts
  • ParkSafe + LockSafe
  • Remote Scooter Controls
  • Live Cricket Scores on the Dashboard

To make the ride experience cooler and more high-tech, customers can also buy the Ather Halo Smart Helmet, which is not yet available but will soon be, priced at Rs 5,000. Riders can listen to music, send voice commands, and take calls, and it can be charged via USB Type-C, so it's updated thoroughly. It also comes with features like:

  • Premium sound
  • Auto WearDetect
  • Integrated music & call control
  • Helmet-to-helmet comms - Ather ChitChat
  • Music sharing
  • ISI(IS:4151), DOT Certified

Who Should Buy It?

Riders who want to stay ahead on tech, prefer the latest features on their scooter, and appreciate a bit of visual flair over the basic colour palette will find the Overtone series worth considering. For just Rs 1,000 more, you get a faster charger, added convenience features, and more character - without touching the performance and range Ather's 450X is already known for. Add the optional Halo Smart Helmet into the mix, and the whole package starts to feel like a well-rounded, tech-first ownership experience rather than just a scooter update. All things considered, it's a small price for a meaningful upgrade.
