Range, Design and Purpose

Yamaha EC-06

The Yamaha EC-06 is positioned as a stylish urban commuter aimed at young and tech-oriented riders. It comes with a certified riding range of 169 km, making it suitable for daily city usage without frequent charging stops.

In terms of styling, the scooter blends Yamaha's traditional design language with modern EV cues. It gets a tall and stable stance, sharp body panels and a clean layout that improves handling in traffic. The proportions are designed to offer better balance and easy manoeuvrability in crowded urban conditions.

Motor, Battery and Performance

Powering the EC-06 is an IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) paired with a fixed 4 kWh battery pack. Performance figures include:

  • Top speed: 79 kmph
  • Peak power: 6.7 kW
  • Maximum torque: 26 Nm

The battery is backed by a warranty of 3 years or 30,000 km. Charging can be done using a standard household socket, with a full charge taking around 8 hours.

To improve durability and safety, Yamaha has given the scooter strong water and dust protection ratings - IP67 for the motor and battery, and IP65 for other electrical components.

Riding Modes and Ride Quality

Yamaha EC-06

The EC-06 offers three riding modes:

  • Eco: for maximum efficiency
  • Standard: for balanced performance
  • Power: for quicker acceleration

It also gets a Reverse Mode, which makes parking and low-speed movement easier in tight spaces.

Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks with hydraulic dampers and a rear coil spring setup, tuned for everyday city comfort.

Brakes, Display and Lighting

Braking is managed by 200 mm disc brakes at both ends, supported by a Combi Braking System (CBS) for added stability.

The scooter features a colour LCD instrument cluster that shows:

  • Speed
  • Battery status
  • Riding mode
  • Connectivity information

Full LED lighting for the headlamp and tail lamp adds to visibility and gives the scooter a modern look.

Connectivity and Storage

Yamaha EC-06

One of the highlights of the EC-06 is its smart connectivity package. It supports the Yamaha Motor Connect R app, which allows riders to access vehicle data and key information directly on their smartphone.

Practicality is boosted by a generous 24.5-litre under-seat storage space, enough to store a helmet and daily essentials.

Market Position and Availability

The Yamaha EC-06 is targeted at riders who want a mix of style, technology and eco-friendly mobility. It will be sold only through Blue Square showrooms in selected cities during the initial phase, with a wider rollout expected later based on demand and infrastructure readiness.

With this launch, Yamaha joins the growing list of established two-wheeler brands stepping into Indias electric scooter market, bringing its brand reputation and engineering experience into the EV space.
