Yamaha MT-07 & YZF-R7 Showcased To Media - Launch By Year End?

Yamaha India is gearing up to introduce several new big engine motorcycles in the Indian market. The brand has already presented these motorcycles to its dealers and recently conducted a media showcase where the Yamaha MT-07 & YZF-R7 were unveiled alongside other 300cc motorcycles. Yamaha MT-07 & YZF-R7

The MT-07 stands as a naked middleweight motorcycle, boasting an aggressive front fascia and exposed body components. On the contrary, the R7 is a fully faired sports bike, featuring complete fairing and a large windscreen at the front, among other design distinctions when compared to the MT-07.

Both bikes are equipped with similar features, including a digital instrument cluster that displays various readings such as speed, tachometer, trip meter, clock, gear indicator, and other relevant information. Additionally, they come with LED lighting. The MT-07, in particular, offers mobile phone connectivity, enabling it to display incoming calls and messages.

When it comes to the engine, both bikes are powered by a 689cc, twin-cylinder liquid-cooled motor, delivering 74 bhp of power and 67 Nm of peak torque, coupled with a 6-speed transmission. On the hardware side, both motorcycles share similar components, including dual front disc brakes measuring 298 mm and a rear disc brake measuring 245 mm. The braking system is further reinforced by dual-channel ABS. However, a notable difference between the two bikes lies in their front forks  the R7 features KYB USD front forks, while the MT-07 comes with telescopic front forks, setting them apart in this aspect.

Verdict

Yamaha India has not disclosed any details regarding the launch of the MT-07 & YZF-R7 in India. However, we expect these two Japanese motorcycles to arrive in the Indian market by the year's end. In terms of competition, the R7 is set to rival the Kawasaki Ninja 650, while the MT-07 will be in competition with the Kawasaki Z650.
