MG 7Upcoming
The MG7 is a premium sedan positioned above products like the Astor and ZS EV. This is being considered for an Indian launch in the second half of 2025. The MG 7 will rival sedans like the Toyota Camry. The 7 looks sporty yet premium and the Trophy version offers a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Being an MG, it is feature-loaded and may come with a value-based sticker price.
MG 7 Latest Update
Last Updated On 27th Jan'25: The MG 7 was showcased in the Trophy avatar at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo and is being considered for launch in the Indian market. If this happens, the MG 7 sedan (along with the MG 7 Trophy) will be sold through the upcoming network of ‘Select’ dealerships nationwide. The 7 does not really have a direct rival in India but in the same price brand, you can pick options like the Toyota Camry Hybrid. The MG 7 may also be offered in the sportier ‘Trophy version’ that comes with a 2000cc turbo charged petrol motor belting out 261 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque.
Design: The MG 7 sedan is a super luxury offering and does look premium enough. It's as long as the Camry Hybrid but wider and gets a coupe profile towards the rear. This does make it stand out from the crowd and so do the color shades. The front gets an aggressive tone thanks to the design of the bumper and sleek headlamps on either side. We love the rear too, with the LED lights and LED horizontal bar. Higher versions get a quad exhaust set up and the MG 7 runs on as large as 19-inch wheels for the Trophy variant. When launched, the MG 7 would be the sexiest looking sedan under Rs 50 lakh in India.
Engine: The MG 7 sedan offers a choice of two engine options, both being petrol powered. The smaller unit is a 1.5-litre motor putting out 188 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT or dual clutch automatic transmission and the set-up is good for a top speed of 210 km/h.
The larger unit is a 2000cc turbo petrol engine that gets a 9-speed DCT gearbox and as much as 261 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque! This is enough to offer the sedan a top speed of 230 km/h!
Features: Being a Morris Garages vehicle, the 7 sedan is feature loaded as well. The sedan offers a large panoramic sunroof, bucket leather seats, 12.3 inch infotainment screen, wiress connectivity and charging, ADAS, side & curtain Airbags, heated and powered front seats etc. The MG 7 will be offered in five color shades of black, white, red, green and grey
price & launch time: The MG 7 has a started ex-factory price of about Rs 18 lakh internationally. Given that it will be a CBU or a completely built unit import into India, we can expect pricing to be around the Rs 40 lakh bracket. MG is tight-lipped on the launch time frame but this one could be the 3rd or the 4th product for MG Select outlets which means launch in 2025 itself could be possible
