Nissan Tekton Latest Update
Last Updated On 2nd April’25: Nissan India has released official teasers of its upcoming compact SUV. This will be launched by mid or end of 2026 and will lock horns with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and the Maruti Grand Vitara. While it shares its platform with the upcoming Renault Duster, the design and interiors are all-new. Nissan will offer unique features and may price is aggresively, under-cutting most rivals. With this launch, Nissan will further increase its market share in India
Exterior: The official sketch images reveal that the upcoming Nissan compact SUV will have a rather bold and muscular front stance. We can expect connected LED bars at both front and rear along with C shaped inserts in the bumpers. The upcoming SUV will also get 17-inch alloy wheels in the upper versions along with roof rails and flared wheel arches. When launched, this could be one of the best looking SUVs under the Rs 20 lakh mark in India.
Interior: While Nissan hasn’t revealed any teaser image of the, we are told the upcoming compact SUV will have a striking design theme on the inside as well. Expect a twin screen set-up, rotary dial for modes, quilted seats and a long list of features. The upcoming SUV will offer as much space as rivals and also one of the largest boots in the segment. This will be a proper 2-row or a 5 seater SUV.
Features: While its too early to comment on what features this Creta rival will get, here is our rough estimate - the top versions of the SUV will offer a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen along with a 7 or 8-inch digital instrument cluster. There will also be a 360-degree camera, now common rear AC vents and automatic climate control, drives modes and even ADAS! Will it sport a panoramic sunroof? Our fingers remain crossed.
Rivals: The upcoming 2026 Nissan compact SUV will enter a fiercly competitive segment with almost a dozen rivals. These including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and even larger options like the MG Hector and the Tata Harrier. And then there are the lower priced options like Tata Curvv and the Citroen Aircross.
Engine: The upcoming Nissan compact SUV will come with a petrol only fuel type. It will be powered by a turbo-charged 1.3-litre engine belting out 154 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. These figures are up there with the best in the segment. The engine will be paired to a 7-speed DCT (dual clutch) automatic transmission as well as a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Launch & Price: This new Nissan compact SUV will be launched by mid or end of 2026. There might not be a true base version and hence price will start from just under Rs 11 lakh mark.
