A Bold and Distinctive Exterior

The Tekton's design language speaks the universal Nissan dialect - rugged, confident, and unmistakably modern. It wears a flat, commanding bonnet and upright proportions, giving it a traditional SUV silhouette, while the detailing keeps it thoroughly contemporary.

The front fascia is defined by a wide LED light bar stretching across the nose, intersecting a bold Nissan badge at the centre. Below that sit split LED headlamps with vertically stacked projector units, neatly tucked into a muscular front bumper that adds substance to the Tekton's stance.

At the rear, the SUV continues the LED theme with a connected tail-light strip and C-shaped lamps, both of which echo Nissan's global design DNA. The roof-mounted spoiler, chunky wheel arches, and large multi-spoke alloys tie it all together, balancing sportiness with everyday practicality.

According to Nissan, the Tekton's styling draws inspiration from the iconic Patrol SUV, and it even features a double C-shaped motif on the front fender - a subtle homage to the Himalayas and their rugged beauty.

Modern Cabin with Premium Touches

Nissan Tekton

While Nissan has kept the Tekton's full interior under wraps, the teasers hint at a layered dashboard designcomplemented by brushed metal finishes and ambient lighting. Expect a clean, horizontal layout that emphasizes width and modernity, similar in execution to global Nissan interiors.

Feature highlights are likely to include a large floating touchscreen infotainment unit, a fully digital driver's display, and wireless smartphone connectivity. The Tekton is also expected to offer ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS suite in higher trims - marking a big leap for Nissan's feature strategy in India.

Top-end variants could also get premium leather upholstery, rear AC vents, and automatic climate control. Nissan has confirmed that the Tekton will share infotainment hardware with the upcoming Renault Duster but will feature exclusive Nissan-specific software and UI, giving it a unique in-cabin experience.

Platform and Powertrain

Nissan Tekton

The Tekton is built on the CMF-B modular platform, jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. This versatile architecture will also underpin the next-generation Renault Duster, ensuring solid underpinnings and proven reliability.

Powering the SUV will be a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 154 hp and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A manual gearbox option is still under consideration, and Nissan is also evaluating all-wheel-drive for higher variants - something that could set it apart from many of its segment rivals. In line with Nissan's global electrification push, strong-hybrid variants are also expected to join the lineup at a later stage, offering better efficiency and performance.

Launch Timeline and Future Plans

Nissan C-SUV

The Nissan Tekton will officially launch in India by Q2 2026, with pricing expected to position it against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder. The SUV has already been previewed to dealers, and early impressions suggest Nissan is betting big on its design and technology to make a comeback in the mid-size SUV space.

Following the Tekton, Nissan also plans to introduce a 7-seater SUV based on the same platform - expected to share foundations with the upcoming Renault Bigster (internally known as Boreal). Together, these models form the backbone of Nissan's renewed India portfolio.

Verdict

With the Tekton, Nissan appears ready to reclaim its spot in one of India's most competitive SUV segments. The SUV's striking design, modern cabin, and global platform hint at a product that blends Japanese reliability with India-specific practicality.

If Nissan manages to price it aggressively while packing in the right mix of features and tech, the Tekton could well become the brand's most significant success story in India since the Magnite. The wait till 2026 might be long - but if the Tekton's first impression is anything to go by, it could be worth it.
