Key Differences Between Triumph Tracker 400 and Speed 400

Triumph has launched the all-new Triumph Tracker 400 and relaunched its debut product, the Triumph Speed 400. Tracker 400 has been launched at Rs. 2.46 lakh (ex-showroom) and the new price of Speed 400 is Rs. 2.32 lakh (ex-showroom). Both bikes now come paired with a 350cc engine. Triumph has made this change due to GST norms, which allow 18% GST for engines up to 350cc and 40% GST for engines above 350cc. In this article, we will be checking the key differences between the Tracker 400 and Speed 400. Design

Triumph Tracker 400 is a flat-track-inspired racer, whereas Speed 400 is a naked roadster. Tracker 400's design incorporates a seat cowl at the rear, a big number board with "400" embedded on it, and a boxy fuel tank. It is available in three colours: Yellow, Black and Silver.

Speed 400's design is simpler yet slightly aggressive. It has a circular side cowl with "400" embedded on it. It is available in four colours: Yellow, Grey, Black, Red.

The front of both bikes looks almost identical, with the same headlamps and display. However, the Tracker 400 stands out with a cowl over the headlamp that makes it look more characterful.

One can easily differentiate between both the bikes from rear. The Tracker 400 gets a sleek taillamp, whereas the Speed 400 features a downward C-shaped taillamp.

Dimension

Triumph Speed 400 offers a seat height of 803 mm, whereas Tracker 400 offers a seat height of 798 mm. Triumph Speed 400 is slightly ahead in terms of ground clearance, offering 164 mm, whereas the Tracker 400 provides 162 mm. Although the difference is small, it can still matter on Indian roads.

Twining Things

The common things in both bikes are as follows: a 350cc engine producing 40 PS of power and 32 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

Both bikes share the same exhaust and suspension setup. The only difference is that the Speed 400 gets golden USD forks at the front, whereas the Tracker 400 comes with blacked-out USD forks. The fuel tank capacity is also the same for both, at 13 litres.

Verdict

Both Triumph Tracker 400 and Triumph Speed 400 share the same heart, but their souls are completely different. This contrast is clearly reflected in their design language-the Tracker 400 carries a rigid character, while the Speed 400 delivers a more refined yet aggressive appeal.
