100,000th Unit of BMW G 310 Series Rolls Out of TVS' Hosur Facility

It was back in 2013 when TVS Motor Co. and BMW Motorrad joined hands to develop and manufacture sub-500cc motorcycles for the global motorcycle markets. Back then, this was seen as a rather uncommon achievement by a homegrown motorcycle manufacturer. The fruit of this partnership was borne in the form of a 310cc motorcycle platform that went on to spawn two models for the German manufacturer and another for the Indian partner. Dubbed BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS, these motorcycles have helped the renowned motorcycle manufacturer penetrate deeper into the Indian motorcycle market.

A testimony to the success of these models lies in the fact that the motorcycle manufacturer recently rolled out the 1,00,000 model of the 310cc series of motorcycles. This model was rolled out from TVS Hosur-based facility by KM Radhakrishnan, CEO and Director, TVS Motor Conpany and Rainer Baumel, Head of Products, 1-, 2-Cylinder and Urban Mobility, BMW Motorrad.

It must be noted here that the BMW G 310 twins are produced at the same plant thats used for the manufacturing of the TVS Apache RR 310. While theres no official word at the moment, speculations are rife that the motorcycle manufacturing duo would roll out more products based on this successful platform in the near future. One of the likely upcoming models could be an adventure tourer that would be sold alongside the Apache RR 310.  It is also worth mentioning here that the Hosur-based facility of TVS Motor Company is responsible for the production of almost 10 per cent of the total motorcycles produced by BMW Motorrad globally. Meanwhile, the India-made BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS are now being sold in as many as 120 countries.

Commenting on this milestone, KN Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO, TVS Motor Company, said, We are delighted to achieve a historic milestone in our journey with BMW Motorrad today.  This achievement is a strong testimony to the success of our eight-year partnership, which has created a common learning platform for both companies.  Our partnership has been truly exceptional for creating aspirational products made for the global market.  We are proud to be a part of this journey and look forward to continuing the partnership with BMW Motorrad.

Markus Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad, said, Our strong synergies with TVS Motor Company have led to the development of impressive offerings in the Sub-500cc segment. Since their launch, both BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS single-cylinder models continue to enjoy unrivalled popularity. With the roll out of the 100,000 unit of BMW Motorrads 310cc series, these two agile all-rounders are an integral part of BMW Motorrads success story. We look forward to the future of our cooperation with TVS Motor Company.
