2021 Mercedes S-class Spied Undisguised Before Global Debut [Video]

Update- New interior video added

A new set of spy shots of the upcoming 2021 Mercedes S-class have left everyone stunned. The pictures reveal many details about the successor of the current-gen S-class. Both the exterior and interior have completely revamped and it looks fresh and appealing. Let's see in detail what has changed.

At first glance, you will notice the inspiration of the design has been taken from the E-class facelift sporting smaller and flat headlights with the big grille. That's the theme here as well sporting a big chrome-surrounded grille with three horizontal slats, updated LED headlights which replace the old sweptback styled headlights and updated bumper as well. The bonnet is long and flat sporting two bulged-out lines on either of the sides. Having said that, Mercedes has ditched the one, two and three LED eyebrow signature lights in the C, E and S-class range.

The side profile is not visible in any of the photos, so we can't gauge the changes but it will sport a new set of alloy wheels. Coming to the rear profile, it is completely changed too. The taillights are now slimmer and horizontally stacked, just like the E-class facelift. A thick bar of chrome, joining both the taillights, has also been added at the rear. Down below are the chrome-surrounded exhaust tips which are deemed to be real, at least by looking at the pictures.

The most applauding part of the 2021 Mercedes S-class has to be the interiors. They are like no other and uber-luxurious. Let's talk about the most amusing part, a big binnacle behind the free-standing driver's digital display. We assume that the free space behind the screen is there to accommodate the screen when the car is not running. Something like we see in the Mclaren 720S which sports a movable driver's display. If this assumption turns correct, it will be the highlight of the new S-class. Moving to the other bits of the interior, we have a vertically-placed touchscreen infotainment screen which is of unknown size. It will sport the latest MBUX system from the house of Mercedes along with 3D navigation, Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

The display flowing down from the dashboard shows a waterfall design theme and it looks really unique. The steering wheel, which is also taken over from the E-class facelift, is a 3-spoke flat-bottomed unit but the horizontally opposed two spokes are further divided into two spokes and it sports touch-sensitive buttons too. Both the driver and co-passenger seats have two big tablets attached to their backs for rear-seat entertainment. The rear AC vents in the middle also sport individual climate control and the rear central armrest also has a screen for massaging and other seat controls.

The Mercedes S-class with come with an array of petrol, diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid engine layouts. The specific engine and transmission choices will be shared on the unveiling of the new S-class. The seventh-generation of the S-class will be unveiled globally later this year and we expect it to get launched in the second half of 2021 in the Indian market. The new S-class will give fierce competition to the BMW 7-series and Audi A8.
