A new front look for the 2023 Super Splendor Xtec features a revised LED headlight assembly with separate low-beam and high-beam lights. An LED DRL is placed in the centre of the headlight assembly. In order to give the motorcycle a distinctive look, the headlight cowl and front visor have also been changed. The brand hasn't changed the turn indicators; they still come with halogen bulbs. In comparison to the present generation, it gets a simmer exhaust pipe from the sides. It now features updated visuals, fresh colours, and 3D logos and branding.

A lot of information is displayed in the instrument cluster, including real-time mileage, SMS and phone notifications via Bluetooth connectivity, two trip metres, low fuel alarm, and more. Near the instrument cluster, there is also a USB charging port.

There are two variations of the Hero Super Splendor: one with drum brakes and one with disc brakes. Telescoping front forks, hydraulic spring shock absorbers in the back, tubeless alloy wheels, and additional components are included with the bike.

Looks, Design & Features

Hero Splendor+ Xtec

The Hero Splendor+ Xtec is a new model of the well-known Splendor motorcycle with minor improvements to its functions and visual changes. The motorcycle still has the same iconic shape and trademark style, but it now has new colour options and an LED DRL over the headlight. The Xtec model sports a chrome exhaust, black alloy wheels, and a comfortable seat. It is completely blacked out. The motorcycle has dual springs in the back and telescopic front forks.

The digital instrument cluster in the Splendor Plus Xtec is a significant upgrade over the traditional analog instrument cluster found in most motorcycles in the segment. With Bluetooth connectivity, it adds convenience by displaying incoming call and message alerts on the screen. The real-time mileage monitor is also a handy feature that can help riders track their fuel efficiency and adjust their riding habits accordingly. The addition of a mobile charging port is a welcome feature as it allows riders to charge their phones on the go. However, it's worth noting that the traditional halogen lighting in the motorcycle may not be as bright or efficient as newer LED units found in some of its competitors. Overall, the Splendor Plus Xtec offers a good set of features that can enhance the riding experience and add convenience to the rider.

Ride & Handling

Hero Splendor+ Xtec

I've been riding the Splendor+ Xtec for my daily commutes to work, which totals about 100 km in a day, and the motorcycle has satisfied me the entire time. The Splendor+ Xtec has been meeting all my daily needs and making daily commute easier in heavy traffic. Its nimbleness and agile handling make it a practical option for navigating through congested city traffic zones, and the flat seat is also useful for carrying groceries and other items. It is a practical option for commuting because to its agile handling and simple manoeuvrability through congested traffic.

The Hero Splendor+ Xtec is a great vehicle for daily commuting and Indian roads. You will have a smooth ride thanks to the suspension's fine-tuning. While riding with a passenger, the suspension seems comfortable; nevertheless, while riding alone, it can occasionally feel stiff. On highways or in cities, riding a motorcycle is stable at all times. If we talk about undulations, it is made to easily handle them, whether they are speed bumps, potholes, or damaged roads.

The braking system is one feature that is turned off because it just has drum brakes. Even when it does it at a slow pace, the mootorcycle's braking does not provide enough assurance in situations demanding quick braking. The addition of disc brakes would have offered the rider more assurance in challenging braking scenarios. Generally speaking, disc brakes are more efficient than drum brakes. Drum brakes are less sensitive and have less stopping power than disc brakes, which makes them a riskier choice for riding at high speeds or in challenging braking conditions.

Performance

Hero Splendor+ Xtec's engine is renowned for being dependable and fuel-efficient. The 97.2cc air-cooled engine is a tested design that has consistently shown itself to be reliable over time. The Splendor+ Xtec's maximum output of 7.8 bhp and 8.05 Nm of torque may not make it the most powerful motorbike on the market, but it can deliver a comfortable and effective ride. The rider can more easily select the appropriate gear for the riding conditions thanks to the 4-speed gearbox's easy shifting capabilities.

The Hero i3S idle start-stop technology is made to automatically turn the engine off when the motorcycle stops moving or at a red light and resume it when the user pulls the clutch. With the help of this technology, the motorcycle's engine won't run when it doesn't need to, cutting down on fuel use and pollutants. Together with the i3S technology, which increases its eco-friendliness, the Hero i3S engine has been designed to provide smooth combustion.

The engine's durability is another benefit. Hero is recognised for producing durable motorcycles, and the Splendor+ Xtec's engine is no exception. The engine can deliver dependable service for many years with routine maintenance. For anyone searching for a durable and fuel-efficient commuter motorbike, the engine in the Hero Splendor+ Xtec is a good option overall.

Fuel Efficiency

The Splendor+ Xtec engine's fuel economy is one of its benefits. The Splendor+ Xtec is one of the most fuel-efficient motorbikes in its class, with a stated economy of 81 kmpl. The positioning of the engine's power band is optimized to maximise fuel efficiency while still giving the rider enough power for daily riding. The motorcycle was providing a commendable 7578 km/l of fuel efficiency while being driven in everyday traffic, which is excellent for a daily ride.

Verdict

The Splendor+ Xtec from Hero Motocorp is a well-rounded commuter motorbike that strikes the ideal mix between style, comfort, and performance. It is the perfect motorbike for daily commuters and people searching for an affordable, dependable, and useful motorcycle. Although it is somewhat more expensive than the competition at Rs 76,346 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the reliability it gives is unmatched.

Drum brakes are still used to stop the motorcycle, and they don't always work well.
