Honda CB650R And CBR650R Launched; Details

The Honda CB650R and the CBR650R E-Clutch are powered by the same 648cc, liquid-cooled, four-cylinder powertrain, producing 93.8bhp at 12,000rpm and 63Nm of torque at 9500rpm. However, in comes the E-Clutch technology; a fully-automatic clutch that takes away the need to use a clutch lever, and allows you to use the shift pedal in a manner similar to how one would use a quickshifter. It also allows riders to adjust the 'feel' of the clutch lever upto three different settings; hard, medium and soft. The E-Clutch system also allows you to completely turn it off as well.

Design-wise, both bikes remain identical to their standard versions. The naked neo-retro CB650R features a slanted round-ish headlight, a sharper tail-section with a new tail lamp and new radiator shrouds, and the familiar four-cylinder pipes as well. The CBR650R continues with the full-fairing and sharper headlamps, along with a redesigned tail section.

The hardware bits are also shared between the CB650R and the CBR650R E-Clutch. Built on a steel diamond frame, the bikes hang off of 41mm Showa semi-function big-piston USD forks, along with a 10-step preload adjustable monoshock. The brakes continue to be 310mm twin discs with a four-piston calliper up front, along with a 240mm disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear.
In terms of features, the CBR650R and the CB650R receive a new 5-inch TFT screen, with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, calls and SMS alerts via the Honda RoadSync software.
