2026 BMW S 1000 R Launched; Details

The S 1000 R now gets a redesigned front-end, with a split-pattern headlamp which might remind buyers of a certain mid-capacity Italian naked. The tail section also sees a small redesign, with the tail lamp and turn indicator functions now merging into one unit, similar to its sibling R 1300 GS and the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The exposed frame remains, however, as do the 17-inch aluminium cast wheels.

Additionally, the S 1000 R will also be available with in three different colour schemes; the Style Sport option with the Bluefire/Mugiallo Yellow paintwork, and the M Motorsport option featuring Light White Uni, Light Blue, Dark Blue and Red.
Some standard features include a 6.5-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, an electronic immobilizer, adjustable levers, riding modes and more. Additionally, the optional kit includes things such as a keyless system, heated grips, a tyre pressure monitoring system, forged alloy wheels, a quickshifter, cruise control, and hill-start control among other things.

Powering the S 1000 R is the same 999cc, four-cylinder liquid-cooled mill, but with a bump in output figures, now producing 167.6bhp at 11,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 9250rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike reaches an electronically-restricted top speed of 250kmph.
Verdict
The new S 1000 R sees itself get sharper and better. With the new design, it should certainly appeal to more buyers, who were put off by the outgoing motorcycle's approach. In the Triumph and the Honda, the S 1000 R has interesting rivalry to look out for.
