With the Ather 450X Gen 3, you get a bigger scooter in dimensions as clear from the data above, still, the wheelbase is longer on the TVS Iqube. Well, just for the record, the wheelbase is the length of the platform between the front and rear wheels, which is evident from the name itself. Although in the actual world, the difference is not very stark. The Ather offering is however lighter by almost 16 kg.

Performance.

The main highlight of electric scooters apart from their eco-friendliness is the push you feel when you throttle, especially when shifting from a petrol one. The PMSM motor on the Ather 450xGen 3 churns out a continuous power of 3.3 kW and a peak of 5.4 kW with generating torque of 26 Nm as compared to the TVS which is a BLC Hub Mounted motor that generates a continuous power of 3 kW and a peak of 4.4 kW with a torque of 33 Nm. Ather is faster and zooms from 0-40 kmph in 3.3s in Warp mode whereas the competitor clocks the same in 4.4 seconds.

With electric vehicles comes range anxiety. Ather customers have been demanding one thing from the start, which is a chunkier battery. So, finally listening to their customers, with the new Ather 450X Gen 3 you get a bigger battery pack of 3.7 kWh which claims a range of 146 km. Whereas the battery on the TVS iQube Electric ST is a full 4.56 kWh that claims a run of 145 km. The company says that they have optimized thermal management to bring out more efficiency.

The real-world range however depends on the riding style of the rider and the driving conditions, but you can easily expect over 100 km range on a single charge on both scooters if you have no intention of pushing them to their sportier limits, which they are very well capable of. Plus, The batteries are IP67 rated which means they are dust and waterproof making them pretty safe for cruising in pouring rain or dusty terrains.

Charging Time.

Well, they can go for long distances, but how much time do they take for juicing up for the task? Here's the answer. The Li-ion battery of Ather 450X Gen 3 gets from 0-80% in 4 h 30 min. whereas TVS goes from 0-80% in 4 h 6 minutes. Both provide the option of fast chargers as well which charges the TVS from 0-80 % in 2 h 30 min while the Ather juices up pretty quickly from 0-50% @ 1.5km/min and 50-80% @ 1km/min. Even though you have these options to charge, Rest assured, with a range of well over 100 km, you will be reaching out for your charger, a little less.

The Ather 450X Gen3 is priced at ex-showroom Rs 1,53,568 without the subsidy. Whereas TVS is yet to announce the pricing of their iQube Electric ST, even though they have closed the booking for the vehicle, you can expect it to be more than the lower variant S already on offer that is priced at 1,60,976 ex-showroom given the update being offered. The On-Road prices will drop after the central and the state subsidy are applied, depending on the state you purchase your vehicle from.

VERDICT- Ather 450X Gen 3 vs TVS iQube Electric ST was quite close on some fronts and a little distant on others. Ather is the winner when it comes to agility with its quick acceleration, however, when it comes to features, TVS punches above its rival by including USB charging, Alexa, and its bigger 32-liter boot. Deciding on what works for you and what doesn't, any one of them (or both) can be your daily ride.
