Honda Bikes To Get ADAS Features Soon?
The leaked design photos showcase the headlight unit of Africa Twin. The photos reveal the use of a radar-based system and the use of twin cameras on the headlight module. The radar is placed to read the oncoming traffic and surroundings; while the twin-cameras monitor the movements all around. As far as the prediction goes via some online reports, this system has been designed to calibrate adaptive cruise control (ACC). Moreover, it'll be further used to develop an automatic braking system for two-wheelers.
In the sketches, the twin cameras have been placed below the headlight and have rubber mounts to control the vibrations. Now it is not a hidden fact that Honda has been fiddling with electronics and radar for a long time in two-wheelers. Multiple reports have surfaced online timely, showing that Honda is working on various safety techs. One such tech is the inclusion of airbags in two-wheelers. While it might sound difficult, the Japanese company is adamant in bringing the automated assist features on its big bikes.
So, when should we be expecting the ADAS on bikes? Well, this answer lies within Honda's engineering wing by now. The road testing of these automated safety assist systems is yet to be spotted. However, the Africa Twin headlight definitely hints that whenever the ADAS tech launches, it'll be the big and premium bikes to get it first. Models like Goldwing will be equipped with such features initially.
