Design & Comfort

While the new Royal Enfield Bullet 650 shares its underlying mechanical platform with its sibling, the Classic 650 Twin, Royal Enfield has carefully preserved the distinct visual DNA that defines the Bullet lineage. Key exterior highlights include a bold chrome headlight cowl, premium polished aluminum switchgear, and the iconic teardrop fuel tank accented by hand-painted pinstripes and distinctive metal tank badging. Setting it apart from other models in the lineup is a sharply styled, squared-off rear fender.

A significant functional divergence is found in the seating arrangement; unlike the Classic's removable pillion design, the Bullet 650 implements a robust, single-piece stepped seat configured to dramatically improve passenger comfort. Ergonomics are further enhanced by a taller, swept-back handlebar setup that creates a commanding and upright riding posture, while maintaining identical footpeg placement to ensure a familiar and comfortable touring base.

Engine Performance

At the heart of the Bullet 650 lies Royal Enfield's thoroughly proven 647.95cc parallel-twin engine. This powerplant is tuned to produce 47 PS of maximum power at 7,250 rpm and 52.3 Nm of peak torque at 5,650 rpm, channeling drive to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox equipped with a slipper clutch.

Features and Hardware

On the feature front, the cruiser blends old-school instrumentation with practical modern hardware. It carries over a neat digital-analogue instrument cluster fitted with a small digital fuel gauge and odometer display, alongside a factory-fitted Tripper navigation pod as standard equipment. Riders also gain a neatly integrated USB charging port located below the left switchgear, a comprehensive all-LED lighting setup, and the security of dual-channel ABS.

Under the skin, the Bullet 650 is built around a robust steel tubular spine frame, classic wire-spoke wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear. Stopping power is anchored by a braking setup comprising a 320mm front disc and a 300mm rear disc brake configuration.

In terms of dimensions and road stance, the motorcycle carries a total kerb mass of 243 kg while offering an approachable 800 mm saddle height and a practical ground clearance of 154 mm to handle uneven road surfaces with ease. Known for its exceptional midrange tractability and smooth power delivery across the rev range, the fueling duties are managed by a 14.8-liter fuel tank. Suspension duties are managed by premium Showa front telescopic forks offering 120mm of travel, paired with traditional dual shock absorbers at the rear, providing 90mm of wheel travel.

Pricing

The Royal Enfield Bullet 650 arrives in a single-spec variant, split across two distinctive paint finishes. The first is Cannon Black, a classic shade, while the second is Battleship Blue, a special color option created exclusively for the Indian market. Priced at Rs 3,64,856 (ex-showroom), the Bullet 650 sits at an identical price point to the standard color ways of the Classic 650 Twin. Crucially, this pricing structure undercuts the top-tier Chrome variant by a substantial Rs 14,000, effectively making it the most affordable entry point into Royal Enfield's 650 line-up.

Verdict

The Royal Enfield Bullet 650 is a masterclass in heritage-driven engineering. By supercharging a legendary, 90-year-old single-cylinder nameplate with modern parallel-twin engineering, the brand has created an incredibly alluring product for long-haul touring purists. It successfully retains the heavy visual identity and old-school charisma of the traditional Bullet while offering the effortless cruising capabilities of the modern RE engines. With its highly practical single-piece saddle, accessible seat height, and aggressive pricing strategy that somehow also stands to cannibalise the sales of its own stablemates as well.
