Design

The Honda Rebel 500 masters the minimalist design language, drawing its inspiration from classic bobbers out there. It offers a low-slung look with fat tyres and a tear-drop shaped fuel tank. The round LED headlamp, slim fenders, and exposed frame add to its raw charm. At the same time, those chunky 16-inch tyres give it a bulky road presence.

Enhancing the bikes visual appeal is its exposed frame along with a distinct subframe that separates the rider's seat from the pillion's. The Indian-spec comes in only one variant, Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic. Moreover, the seat height remains at 690mm, accessible for even short riders.

Powertrain And Hardware

At the heart of the Rebel 500 lies a 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine for a smooth and linear power delivery. This engine belts out 46.2 PS of power and 43.3 Nm of torque. It comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Like most Honda engines, we can expect this one to be quite refined as well. It is also marginally more powerful than its closest rival, the Kawasaki Eliminator.

The Rebel 500 rides on a tubular steel frame for a balanced and composed ride. It features a telescopic front fork and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Meanwhile, braking duties are handled by a 296mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear, along with dual-channel ABS. Moreover, at 690mm, the seat height should be suitable even for shorter riders, and the 191kg kerb weight should also make it far more manageable than something like a Super Meteor 650.

Features

The Honda Rebel 500 focuses more on simplicity and delivering a pure, unfiltered riding experience. It includes an LED lighting setup, an LCD instrument cluster, and dual-channel ABS, essentials that enhance functionality without overcomplicating the ride experience. If you're looking for connectivity and riding modes, you're probably looking at the wrong segment. That said, Honda should have at least offered turn-by-turn navigation.

Pricing

The all-new Honda Rebel 500 is available at a price tag of Rs 5.12 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. It will be sold exclusively through Honda BigWings Topline dealerships. The Kawasaki Eliminator emerges as a direct rival in terms of most of the specifications, but the Honda is actually more affordable. We have done an in-depth comparison between the Rebel and its rivals, which you can check out below.

Verdict

The Honda Rebel 500 makes a bold entry into the mid-capacity cruiser segment with its raw bobber styling and refined twin-cylinder performance. It's not overloaded with tech, but that's exactly the point; this bike is for, who appreciate a clean, no-frills design and a smooth, responsive ride. With its approachable seat height, muscular road presence, and proven Honda reliability, the Rebel 500 is an ideal choice for those looking to cruise in style without breaking the bank.
