Yulu Bajaj Electric Scooter range has debuted in India. The new joint venture has launched two new e-scooters that are meant for short-distance riding.

Yulu & Bajaj has shaken hands to form a new joint venture. This newly made JV focuses on electric mobility. Additionally, two new e-scooters have been launched as a part of this new bond. Yulu Bajaj Electric Scooter

As per the launch event, two new e-scooters have been introduced. One is called 'DeX GR' and the other as 'Miracle GR'. The first scooter is a last-mile delivery service-oriented product. It'll be sold mostly to delivery partners and other last-mile delivery services. However, the Miracle is oriented toward private buyers looking for a simple short-distance e-scooter. Both of these models are being made at Bajaj's production plant. Bajaj-owned Chetak Tech Ltd. is the production holder in this JV.

Both of these scooters are nimble and utility-based. As visible, both of them have lightweight chassis and swappable batteries. Even their speed is limited to 25 kmph. Hence, these new scooters can be easily used by riders of any age. Additionally, the Dex GR gets a payload capacity of up to 15 kg (luggage). In fact, both models also get a headlight, taillight, telescopic front suspensions & rear spring suspension. Additionally, the JV aims to deliver up to 1,00,000 e-scooters by the end of 2023. Meanwhile, the current Yulu scooters use Yuma Energy outlets for exchanging batteries. However, with only 100 outlets currently; this number will extend to 500 by the end of 2023.

Verdict

Bajaj has been playing on the safe front when it comes to EVs. May it be the Chetak scooter, which is getting a mixed response; Bajaj surely has plans for EVs. The first step into the mass EV market by Bajaj is this JV. Additionally, Bajaj is also standalone working on a new Chetak scooter which is due for launch in the coming days.
