With the 35 Series, Bajaj seems to have addressed certain things with the Chetak. While this update also brings in some useful features, we were hoping for this update to be a bit more substantial, in the sense for the electric drivetrain to be a bit more powerful, or for some more differentiation in terms of the design.

• What could have been better

  • Rivals like Ola S1 offer more range at this price tag
  • Limited app connectivity features, most of which are visible only on the TFT display.
  • Poor fit and finish of the charging socket, which appears like an after thought
  • Unlike rivals, its charging socket is under the seat, which is a major drawback.
  • There is no disc brake at the rear, even at Rs 1.27 lakh ex-showroom.

The overall design and looks of the Chetak e-scooter are futuristic and mostly curvy. With the blunt use of round and curvy body lines, round headlight with LEDs, and LED tail lights with LED indicators; the Chetak looks astonishing and subtle at the same time. The wide seat offers good riding comfort for both the rider as well pillion. It is ample space underneath the seat and in front of the seat as well. Gloss piano black rearview mirrors do look funky. It retains a retro style while giving modern features and thus catering to young buyers.

A newer frame and a larger battery pack increases boot space 8

• The Chetak 35 Series is built on a new frame, and it gets a newer 3.5kWh battery pack placed under the floor. 

• With these adjustments, the underseat storage space has gone up to 35-litres, which is marginally bigger than what its rivals offer, and also a step up from the lesser variants’ 21-litre space.  

• This new battery pack comes with a claimed range of 153km on a single charge, and depending on whether you get the 3501 or the 3502, the battery pack can be charged from 0-80% in a claimed time of 3 to 3.5 hours. 

• The 4kW electric motor has been retained, which propels it to a claimed top speed of 73kmph.

The Chetak 35 gets slightly altered dimensions, but retains hardware from before. 8

• The wheelbase of the Chetak 35 has been lengthened, bringing it up to 1350mm. It also gets an 80mm longer seat and a larger floorboard. 

• The Chetak continues to feature a single-sided linkage-type front fork and a monoshock at the rear, and in terms of braking, it also features a disc in the front and a drum at the rear.

• The Chetak 35 Series features the same 5-inch TFT screen, with the top-end 3501 getting a touch screen as standard.

  Mujhe Chetak electric scooter use karte hue 1 saal 6 mahine ho gaye hain, aur honestly bolun toh yeh meri daily life ka best decision tha. Design ekdum classy hai — retro look ke saath modern feel deta hai. Log ruk kar poochte hain, 'Kaunsa model hai?' Pickup smooth hai, aur battery backup bhi kaafi achha hai. Full charge par lagbhag 85-90 km ka range milta hai bina kisi dikkat ke. Charging bhi simple hai — ghar ke socket se easily ho jaata hai. Sabse acchi baat yeh hai ki scooter chalate waqt bilkul noise nahi hoti, ekdum silent ride hoti hai. Maintenance bhi almost zero hai — na petrol bharwana, na servicing ki tension. Agar aap eco-friendly aur stylish option dhoondh rahe ho, toh Chetak definitely worth it hai. Ek baar test ride lo, khud samajh jaoge farq."
