Should I buy the Compass?
The Jeep Compass is a good product in a very tough competition competitive segment in the market. This segment offers a variety of safety, comfort, and convenience features. The Jeep Compass is a good product with a strong road presence. It also has brilliant headlight illumination and great features. If in case you are planning to buy a 4 x 4 variant then it is a good product because it has a good approach and departure angles and it stands on its brand Legacy. If in case you are still not sure about the Jeep Compass, then you might check out other options like MG Hector, Scorpio N from Mahindra, or Tata Harrier
- The design of the Jeep Compass is similar to its other lineup models. It has a strong front face with a seven-slat grill which is connected by the headlamps. All LED headlamps provide a brilliant through with LED DRL and all LED fog lamps are also present over there with a cornering function. The design of the front face is muscular and provides a massive road presence to the Jeep Compass.
- Coming to the side profile, it has a short wheelbase. So the cabin space is a little reduced inside. Talking about the wheels, It has 18-inch alloy wheels that provide a massive stance to this beast. The dual-tone pain treatment gives a good presence to this SUV.
- The front door panels get the subtle branding of Compass which presents calmness in the design language of the Jeep.
- Coming to the rear profile, it has all LED taillamps with LED rear fog lamps for enhanced safety. It misses on a power tailgate which could have been a nice feature to offer.
Compass body specifications:
| Wheel Size | R17 & R18 |
| Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
| Ground Clearance | 178 mm |
| Boot Space | 438 liters |

- As we step inside the cabin of the Jeep Compass, there is a sense of sophistication that has a premium appeal.
- The touch and feel of the materials are on the premium side. Depending on the variant you choose, there are different options of upholstery on offer. The subtle silver line on the dashboard offers a calm experience altogether.
- Coming to the features on offer, it offers all the necessary features that should be offered at the price it is offered. It has everything you need. It includes ventilated seats, electronic front seat adjustment, and dual-zone climate control.
- One unique feature on offer is that it gets volume controls and track selection control on the rear of the steering wheel where the fingers hold. It makes it more convenient to operate and is a wise move.
- The Compass is offered with the same 2l diesel engine that is offered in the Meridian as well. The tuning of the engine is completely the same but in terms of performance and dynamics, there are some differences.
- This diesel engine produces a colossal 170 BHP and 350 Nm of peak torque. It is refined in performance and comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 9-speed automatic transmission.
- The driveability of this engine is frugal. It is well calibrated and performance is on-spot when you throttle completely.
- Coming to off-road abilities, it is only available in the automatic version and the 4x4 variant is quite expensive. The approach angle of 30 degrees is ample enough with a departure angle of 34 degrees. In practicality, it performs exceptionally well in off-road and electronics work flawlessly.
- Coming to the seat comfort and suspension setup of the Compass, it is tuned perfectly. Talking about seating comfort, the front seats offer a great ambiance, and the comfort level is on top.
- The rear seat comfort is the place where you’ll find some improvements are required. The seats offer a plush seating experience but the space is cramped. The knee, leg, and shoulder room could have been improved for much better comfort.
- The suspension setup is tuned on the stiffer side. The comfort quality in the cabin is top-notch and potholes do not filter in. Yes, there can be some movement on the expansion joints. However, at triple-digit speeds, the vehicle maintains its line and provides good comfort.
- The steering wheel is well-calibrated according to the conditions. In city traffic, it is very lightweight and easy to maneuver. On highways, it gets weighed up to provide more confidence.
