Activa Highlights
On Target
Probably the most famous household name after Chetak, still ruling the scooter space in India at the top spot.
What We Like
Comfortable and big seat, flat floorboard, enough storage spaces. Two engine options for varied power requirements.
What We Do Not Like
Base variant feels dated with analogue speedometer. Rear disc brakes missing. Feels pricey when compared to rivals.

Expert Verdict on Activa

91Wheels Expert
Pros & Cons of Activa
Super refined engine performance with good fuel economy
Honda’s service network is assuring
Best resale value in its segment
Reliable and easy-to-fix mechanism
Ride quality is not as comfy as rivals
Lacks modern features like a digital screen
Absence of disc brakes even as an option
Should I buy the Activa?
- The design of the latest Honda Activa is very simple and elegant. It is a proper family scooter that looks proportionate from every angle. Also, the fit and finish of the Activa are very nice as it doesn’t have panel gaps. Although, the plastic quality could’ve been better as rivals like Jupiter offer better build. The LED headlight on the DLX variants and above enhances its road presence.
- The features list of Activa is very small. On the top variant, it comes with H-Smart features. These include smart lock, smart start, and smart find assist which are basically keyless features. Additionally, the LED headlight and alloy wheels are offered on the top version. Rivals offer more features like Bluetooth connectivity and a digital instrument screen.
Activa body specifications:
| Ground Clearance | 162 mm |

- The air-cooled engine of the Activa is by far the smoothest in its segment. The BS6 engine is very linear in power delivery. Also, it has sufficient acceleration to overtake the slow-moving traffic inside the city. The best part of its performance is its refinement which helps in reducing the fatigue for the rider.
-
The Honda Activa is also known for its fuel-efficient nature. This engine can deliver upwards of 45 kmpl easily if ridden sedately. Our test scooter returned more than 47 kmpl even after riding it hard and making fast overtake moves.
Activa engine specifications:
| Transmission | Automatic |
| Mileage | 47-50 |
| Engine | 109.51 cc |
- The ride quality of the Honda Activa is sorted and can be termed neutral. It is neither stiff nor soft. The rear suspension feels stiff when going through very sharp bumps. However, it remains pliant most of the time. With a pillion, the ride quality improves and the scooter becomes more comfortable but less confident to ride.
- The handling of Activa is also neutral. The high centre of gravity means good ground clearance but the agility around the tight corners is not as sharp as the rivals like Hero Xoom. For your everyday city riding, the Honda Activa offers safe and decent handling.
- Despite of being offered at a premium price, the Honda Activa doesn’t even get an option for a disc brake at the front. TVS Jupiter comes with a disc brake on its top variants but the Activa doesn’t have it. The performance of drum brakes on the Activa is just moderate. It’s not very confidence-inspiring especially if you’re riding above 60 kmph.
- In terms of safety features, it gets a combined braking system and a lock for the rear brake lever. These are not sufficient for the price tag at which it is offered.
