Should I buy the Tigor CNG?
If you are planning to get a CNG vehicle, that provides comfort, is reliable, and is built strong then TIGOR CNG is the right choice for you. It has decent features on offer, great comfort, and segment-first technology of dual-cylinder for the CNG tank, Tigor has taken the competition a step further. The introduction of the AMT variant has now created a more differentiating factor since it is the first car in India to offer CNG in automatic transmission.
- The looks of the Tigor CNG and the regular version are almost identical. From the front, there is no change at all. It gets a projector setup for the headlamps with good illumination at night.
- From the side, it gets a blend of simplicity along with the use of chrome on the door handles and the window line. The 14” alloy wheels provide a strong character to the Tigor CNG. 15” alloys are offered on the non-CNG variants of Tata Tigor.
- The main play is at the rear, with the use of chrome connecting the LED taillamps providing a sophisticated appearance. Coming to the boot space, which is a major concern in CNG cars, Tigor has gone a step further by offering dual-cylinder technology. This has resulted in ample amount to store your luggage.
Tigor CNG body specifications:
| Wheel Size | R14 & R15 |
| Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
| Ground Clearance | 165 mm |

- As we step inside, there’s hardly any difference that you can see between the non-CNG variant and the CNG variant. The fit-finish quality of the cabin is well put together with soft touch and hard plastics existing together.
- The layout of the dashboard is neat and clean with minimalist use of buttons. The 8” Harman screen is slick to use and could have been better in terms of user interface.
- The speaker output is decent as per the segment standards. The touch and feel of the plastic could have been improved. Some features like a cooled glove box, and height adjustable driver seat are some cool bits on the CNG trim.
- The Tata Tigor CNG comes equipped with a 1.2 L 3-cylinder petrol engine that is now mated to an AMT transmission as well. It has now become the first car in India to offer a CNG option in AMT transmission as well, taking the lead ahead of the competition.
- The 1.2L engine churns out 73 BHP and 95 Nm of peak torque in the CNG mode. Since it is a 3-cylinder engine, some vibrations can be felt on the inside and door panels.
- It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or now it has an option for AMT transmission as well, which makes it a more convenient option for the daily city commuters.
- Due to the heavyweight body, there might be some sluggishness that can be felt in the outright performance of the motor.
- The big concern is fuel efficiency. The Tata Tigor i-CNG has a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.11 km/kg as per ARAI. In real life, it would return somewhere about 22-25 km/kg depending on your driving style.
Tata Tigor iCNG rivals Hyundai Aura CNG and Maruti Dzire CNG. The prices starts from to Rs 7.87 lakh and 8.22 lakh, respectively. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi. One of the advantage the Tigor iCNG has over its rival is the global NCAP rating of four stars along with the option of two variants when compared to the single variant of the Aura CNG. Tata Tigor iCNG will also rival the upcoming Maruti Dzire CNG in the coming months.
If your monthly driving is more than 1200+ km and you're looking for an economical sedan then Tigor iCNG is your go to car. It packs in everything, right from the features to the safety and mileage, Tata Tigor iCNG can surely live up to your expectations.
Summary
The CNG sedan market is warming up now. Tigor remains on the recommended list.
- When we step inside and experience the seating comfort of the Tigor CNG, it is undoubtedly the best in the segment. It has soft cushioned seats and the leatherette upholstery makes it a more appealing option.
- There is an ample amount of knee room, legroom, and shoulder room on offer but seating 3 passengers at the rear can be a tight fit.
- The suspension is tuned on the softer side which results in providing a sheer level of comfort inside the cabin. On bad roads, hardly any potholes or bumps are felt inside. When out on highways, there might be some vertical movement and bounciness due to a softer setup.
- The feel and feedback from the steering wheel are decent. In city commutes it is apt and lightweight maneuvering in the traffic. When out on highways, it maintains its line and provides decent feedback.

The model also retains its CNG option, offered in multiple trims, delivering lower running costs while sharing the same engine setup as the petrol version.
