2020 Mahindra Thar Interior Spied in India - All Details [Video]

Mahindra Thar is an Iconic SUV. It is well-known for its legendary off-road capabilities and the classic design. The new-generation Thar is one of the most anticipated SUVs of recent times. Since the past few months, Mahindra has been extensively testing the new-generation Thar across the length and breadth of the country. This time the Indian UV maker doesn't want to leave any stone unturned. Hitherto, the Thar has been spied on test in India on multiple occasions revealing its muscular exterior design. Now, for the first time ever, clear images of the interior of the new 2020 Mahindra Thar have surfaced online. So, let's have a look.

The interior of the new 2020 Mahindra Thar gets a complete makeover. It is completely different from its predecessor. The new-generation Thar gets a fresh layout for the dashboard and the quality of materials used seem to be leaps and bounds better than its predecessor. Taking the centre stage of the dashboard seems to be a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This touchscreen unit might feature Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mahindra's Blue Sense application's compatibility. The steering wheel is also a completely new unit and it will get a sunroof too.

If you notice properly, then you can see that the centre console of the new-gen Thar gets faux carbon fibre treatment surrounding the AC vents. The round AC vents are also re-designed with subtle chrome inserts and overall the fit and finish quality seems impressive, at least in pictures. The front seats seem to be very comfortable and also, it gets two levers in the centre console. One is a regular gear shifter stick while the other is a high/low range selector. With the help of this, one can also shift from 4x2 mode to 4x4. The new Thar seems to be very practical. At the rear, it gets forward-facing seats with adjustable headrests and an ample amount of legroom.

Also, we have seen the exterior images of the test mules of the new-gen Thar multiple times. But, these latest high-quality images reveal that this time Mahindra has really worked on even the minute attention to detail elements. The new Thar will retain its legendary off-road capability and iconic design but will definitely offer a lot more to the customers. It gets Thar inscription on multiple parts of the SUV inside and out. Powering the new Thar will be a BS6-compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine. It will churn out 140 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque and will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a low-ratio gearbox. The new-gen Thar will also get Diesel AT and a Petrol engine in the future.

Lastly, talking about the launch timeline and price. So, the new-generation 2020 Mahindra Thar will make its public debut this Independence Day, i.e. on 15th August 2020. The Thar also serves the Indian Armed Forces and so we believe there couldn't have been a better day to unveil the all-new Thar. It is expected to be officially launched by the festive season of this year and will be priced around Rs. 10 lakhs - Rs. 12 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. Once the new-generation Mahindra Thar arrives in the market, it will rival against other true 4x4 SUVs which include the upcoming Force Gurkha BS6 and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny (Gypsy).
