The S-Cross is Maruti's Flagship car in the Indian market. It is sold via the company's premium NEXA dealerships. The S-Cross was first launched in the year 2015. Back then, it was offered with 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines. Two years later, it got a facelift in 2017 and the facelifted model was powered by the 1.3-litre diesel only. Now in 2020, the car has got the BS6 treatment and for the first time, it is now powered by a petrol engine. The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross BS6 gets a new powerplant and some minor feature upgrades. It now gets Suzuki's latest SmartPlay Studio Infotainment System. Some other features include LED projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, all-wheel disc brakes, etc.
Talking about the details of the new powertrain, so the S-Cross now gets a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This is the same gasoline mill that was recently introduced in the Vitara Brezza too. It also does its duty in a slew of other Maruti cars which include the Ciaz, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza and the XL6. This new BS6-compliant 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, K15B petrol motor churns out 105 PS of power at 6000 RPM and 138 Nm of torque at 4400 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The automatic transmission is offered in all the variants except the base model. It has an ARAI-claimed fuel-efficiency of 18.55 kmpl. It also gets Maruti Suzuki's new advanced Smart Hybrid technology.
