The Japanese carmaker, Nissan too has brought in the Magnite in 2020 and surprisingly, this compact SUV is the most fuel-efficient SUV and its mileage sticks to 20 km/l.

Nissan Magnite comes in two engine options - 1.0L naturally aspirated motor and a more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. The former generates a power of 72 PS at 6250 RPM with a peak torque of 96 Nm at 3500 RPM. This engine delivers 18.75 km/l.

Coming to the turbocharged petrol engine then it delivers 20 km/l which is the highest in the segment for petrol compact SUVs. This engine generates as much as 100 PS at 5000 RPM and a peak torque of 160 Nm between 1600-3600 RPM. It also gets an optional CVT gearbox and the mileage for that is reduced to 17.7 km/l.

As you can see from the table above, Nissan Magnite is the fuel-efficient SUV with manual transmission. The CVT is said to be more economical but since it is performance-based Xtronic, the mileage sticks to 17.7 km/l only. The 5-speed in NA form delivers 18.75 km/l while the turbocharged version delivers 20 km/l.

Feature-wise, the Magnite comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree parking camera, wireless projection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel and among others.

As far as the prices go, Nissan is expected to keep it strictly under Rs 6 lakh to grow its market share. If it happens then it will be the most affordable compact SUV in the segment. The top-model with all the bells and whistles will touch Rs 9 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.
