The 2023 Kawasaki Ninja 650 and its cousin bike Z650 have been updated globally. The update has come in the form of the addition of KRTC (traction control). 3-step traction control will now be offered as standard on both of these bikes. However, these MY23 models still have time to get launched in India.

The Ninja 650 siblings remain one of the top-selling products from the company globally. Not just globally, the domestic market of India also witnesses good sales figures for both of these sibling models. The value-for-money price tag attracts a lot of new buyers. Meanwhile, the addition of 3-step traction control will only make both of these bikes more value for money.

The traction control being offered is subjected to come as a standard fitment. Additionally, it is a 3-step unit with various functions that have been designed to keep the bike on the track. The Level 1 TC leads to a complete take over the rear wheel spinning. This means the bike will not lose the surface underneath during full throttle. Additionally, this is going to help during the track riding.
The Level 2 TC offers resistance against the slipping of the bike on loose gravel or slush. It is the most sensible function considering the road conditions of India. The Ninja is pitched as a sports tourer and the addition of TC has only made it more desirable. The Level 3 TC leads to complete switching-off of the traction on the rear wheel. However, it is going to be least used in India until or unless someone decides to have risky fun.
Meanwhile, the design, engine, & specifications on both of the models remain the same. We suspect that Kawasaki will debut the updated MY23 models by the end of 2022 in India. The main rivals of Ninja 650 in India are - Benelli TRK 502 & Triumph Tiger Sport 660.
