Updated Mahindra Scorpio N Continues Testing

The latest test vehicle was seen undergoing evaluation in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, suggesting Mahindra is carrying out hot-weather and durability testing before the updated Mahindra Scorpio N makes its official debut. While the camouflage conceals most of the changes, several details about the upcoming model can already be identified. Unlike a full-generation change, the Scorpio N facelift is expected to receive subtle styling revisions rather than a complete redesign. The front fascia appears set for the biggest visual changes. Spy images indicate a revised grille design, which could draw inspiration from Mahindra's newer concept vehicles. The bumper is also expected to be reworked, along with updates to the lower air intake and skid-plate design. The side profile remains largely unchanged, although the facelift could introduce a fresh set of alloy wheel designs.

Interior Updates: Cabin To Receive A Significant Tech Boost

While the test vehicle's interior remains hidden, previous sightings and industry reports suggest that Mahindra is planning a substantial technology upgrade inside the cabin. One of the biggest additions is expected to be a larger floating touchscreen infotainment system, likely borrowed from the Thar Roxx. The new display could measure around 10.25 inches, replacing the smaller integrated unit currently offered on the Scorpio N. Another major change could be the introduction of a fully digital instrument cluster on higher trims. This would replace the current semi-digital setup and bring the Scorpio N more in line with newer rivals in the segment. Mahindra is also expected to revise the dashboard layout, potentially incorporating a new design for the central air-conditioning vents and updated cabin trim finishes.

One of the most anticipated additions could be a panoramic sunroof. The current Scorpio N offers a single-pane electric sunroof, but the facelift is expected to upgrade to a larger panoramic unit, a feature that has become increasingly popular among Indian SUV buyers. The latest test mule also appeared to feature hardware associated with advanced driver assistance systems. A camera mounted near the windscreen and a radar module integrated into the front bumper suggest Mahindra could expand the availability of Level 2 ADAS functions across more variants.

Powertrain Options Likely To Remain Unchanged

Mechanically, the Scorpio N facelift is expected to retain the existing engine lineup. This means buyers will continue to get the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine that produces up to 200 hp and 370 Nm with the manual gearbox or 380 Nm with the automatic transmission. Diesel duties will continue to be handled by the familiar 2.2-litre mHawk engine, offered in multiple states of tune, with outputs ranging from 130 hp and 300 Nm in lower variants to 172 hp and up to 400 Nm in higher-spec versions.

With testing activity intensifying and prototypes now being spotted regularly across different regions of the country, the Scorpio N facelift is expected to make its market debut in the coming months. Industry reports suggest a launch could take place during the early part of the third quarter of 2026.

Verdict

The Mahindra Scorpio N remains one of the most popular body-on-frame SUVs in India, and the upcoming facelift looks set to take it even further. Rather than reinventing the formula, Mahindra appears to be focusing on enhancing technology, convenience and safety while preserving the rugged character that has made the Scorpio nameplate so successful. If the expected upgrades make it to production, the facelifted Scorpio N could emerge as an even stronger contender in its class, not that it has anything more to prove, but still.
