Skoda Auto India is set to expand the Skoda Kylaq lineup with the introduction of a new Sportline variant later this year. But not just this, the Kylaq could be getting a punchier engine option as well. What To Expect From The Skoda Kylaq Sportline

While Skoda has yet to reveal the final specifications and design details, the Skoda Kylaq Sportline is expected to follow the formula already seen on the Kushaq Sportline and Slavia Sportline. The SUV is likely to receive several blacked-out exterior elements, including dark-finished alloy wheels, black badges, black roof rails, black ORVMs, and black door handles. The front and rear faux skid plates could also feature a darker finish, while smoked tail lamps and a contrasting roof treatment may further differentiate the Sportline from the standard model. Overall, the updates are expected to give the compact SUV a more youthful and sporty character while retaining the familiar Kylaq silhouette.

Inside, the Sportline treatment is expected to continue with an all-black interior theme. Similar to other Sportline models in Skoda's portfolio, the Kylaq could feature dark upholstery, black trim inserts, and aluminium-finished pedals. While the visual presentation may change, the overall dashboard design and feature list are expected to remain largely unchanged. Depending on the final variant positioning, features such as the electric sunroof, connected-car technology, and touchscreen infotainment system are likely to be carried over from the existing range.
No Mechanical Changes Expected
Under the hood, the Kylaq Sportline is expected to continue with the familiar 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The unit produces 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque and is currently available with both manual and automatic transmission options. Skoda is not expected to make any mechanical changes for the Sportline variant, meaning buyers will get the same performance package as the standard SUV. Interestingly, while the recently updated Kushaq received an 8-speed automatic transmission with its facelift, the Kylaq could benefit from a similar upgrade in the future.

1.5-Litre TSI Still Being Evaluated
Perhaps the most interesting development is Skoda's acknowledgement of growing customer demand for a more powerful Kodiaq. Company officials have confirmed that a 1.5-litre TSI-powered version is under consideration, although no final decision has been made. If approved, the engine would likely be borrowed from the Kushaq and Slavia, where it produces 150 bhp and significantly elevates performance. However, Skoda has indicated that factors such as development costs, business viability, and segment limitations will ultimately determine whether the project moves forward.
The upcoming Sportline trim is expected to slot below the top-spec Prestige variants, mirroring the structure followed by the Kushaq and Slavia lineups. As a result, Skoda may be able to introduce the new variant without significantly altering the SUV's current price range of Rs 7.59 lakh to Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Verdict
The Kylaq Sportline looks set to add a fresh dose of visual appeal to Skoda's bestselling compact SUV. While performance upgrades are unlikely for now, the combination of sportier styling cues, a darker cabin theme and the proven 1.0-litre TSI powertrain should help attract younger buyers looking for a more distinctive alternative in the segment. Meanwhile, the possibility of a future 1.5-litre TSI version remains an intriguing prospect for enthusiasts hoping for an even more exciting Kylaq.
