Design

The biggest highlight of this motorcycle is its cafe racer silhouette, which perfectly captures the essence of a bygone era. The Thruxton name carries a rich history - debuting in 1964, the first Triumph Thruxton quickly became a success in the racing world. As for its design, the bike features a flowing fuel tank, a compact tail, a sculpted fairing, and a distinctive bullet seat cowl, all of which help it stand out in any crowd.
The front profile is sure to turn the most heads with its Batmobile-like appearance, and customers can choose from four luxurious color options.
Engine

As mentioned above, this is the fourth bike from Triumph to feature the 398cc engine, following the Speed 400, Speed T4, and Scrambler 400 XC. However, the power output has seen a slight increase - now delivering 42 PS and 37.5 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. For context, the Speed 400 produces 40 PS, so to better align with the characteristics of a cafe racer, Triumph made some tuning adjustments.
Hardware

The front suspension features 43mm USD big piston forks, while the rear is equipped with a monoshock. Additionally, it comes with dual-channel ABS, clip-on handlebars, a slip-and-assist clutch, ride-by-wire, switchable ABS and traction control, and an all-LED lighting setup. The instrument cluster is the same analog speedometer as the Speed 400, complemented by an LCD display and a USB-C port.
Price

The pricing is set at Rs 2,74,137 (ex-showroom Delhi), and as of now, there's no direct rival of Triumph Thruxton 400 due to its price and its cafe racer design. However, at Rs 3.46 lakh (ex-showroom), we have the iconic Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. This creates a significant price gap, especially considering the Continental GT is a 650cc bike.
Verdict
This is a uniquely presented machine, and despite its overall riding performance, we can already predict how it will sound and rev. Thankfully, the power has increased, and with the full lean-back riding position and the footpegs set farther back, the rider will feel the bike engaging with the wind. Moreover, if you're looking for a head-turner, this is it - the front profile is something we dont often see on Indian roads.
