2026 Mercedes Maybach S-Class Launched in India At Rs. 3.35 Crore: Details Here
Mercedes-Benz India has launched the facelifted Maybach S-Class at Rs. 3.35 crore (ex-showroom). It is offered in a single S 580e plug-in hybrid variant, the first electrified Maybach to be sold in the country. Bookings are open, and deliveries begin in November 2026.
Mercedes has taken the Maybach S-Class's usual formula of a long wheelbase, a rear-seat focus, and plenty of chrome, and added a plug-in hybrid powertrain, more illumination, and more rear-seat technology. The updated model reached India about six months after its global debut in March.

Limited numbers, strong demand
The first batch for India is only about 30 units. The Maybach is also a big part of the S-Class story here, since Mercedes says roughly half of its S-Class sales in India are Maybachs. At Rs. 3.35 crore, it costs around Rs. 97 lakh more than the regular S-Class Manufaktur Edition AMG Line launched a couple of months ago.
Powertrain: a plug-in hybrid replaces the V8
The Maybach's drivetrain is the biggest change. The S 580e pairs a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with an electric motor, a battery pack, and a 9-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is standard.
The sources disagree on the exact figures, so treat these as approximate until Mercedes publishes official India specs:
- Combined output: around 585-593 hp and 750 Nm from the petrol-electric setup.
- Electric range: Mercedes' figure is around 98-100 km on battery power alone, with a top speed on electric power of about 140 km/h.
- Charging: an 11 kW AC on-board charger, and DC fast charging up to 60 kW.
- Drive modes: Maybach, Electric, and Battery Hold, plus adjustable regenerative braking that includes one-pedal driving.
Air suspension and rear-axle steering are standard. The rear wheels turn by up to 10 degrees, which cuts the turning circle by almost two metres, a real help on a car of this size.
Exterior
The facelift stays close to the familiar silhouette, but there is much more illumination.
- Front: a larger grille with the Maybach vertical-slat design, framed by LEDs. The grille, the "Maybach" lettering above it, and the bonnet star all light up.
- Headlamps: bigger units with star-shaped daytime running lights and rose gold detailing in place of the blue accents on the regular S-Class.
- Profile: the car is 180 mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class. It rides on 20-inch forged wheels with centre caps that stay upright as the wheels turn. The Maybach logo on the D-pillar is also illuminated.
- Rear: tail-lamps with the same triple-star light signature.
- Paint: the Manufaktur personalisation programme offers more colours and two-tone combinations.
Interior: the rear seat is the point
The Indian car comes in a four-seat layout with executive rear seats and a full-length business console.
- Seats: they recline to 43 degrees, compared with 38 in the regular S-Class. They are heated, ventilated, and massaging.
- Controls: two smartphone-style remotes replace the old tablet controller. They operate the seat, climate, and entertainment settings.
- Rear comforts: a Rear Comfort Package Plus with fold-out tables, wireless charging pads, ambient lighting, and temperature-controlled cup holders. There is also a refrigerated compartment, two rear entertainment screens with wireless headphones, and multi-zone climate control.
- Materials: Maybach-exclusive Nappa leather in crystal white and silver grey pearl, with Manufaktur piano lacquer trim and a Nappa-wrapped roof liner.
The front cabin carries over the three-screen glass dashboard. It has a 12.3-inch driver display, a 14.4-inch central touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch passenger screen with a privacy function. The car runs on MB.OS with fourth-generation MBUX, and adds a Maybach-specific display theme, an augmented-reality head-up display, and a 31-speaker Burmester 4D sound system.
Safety
The standard kit includes up to 15 airbags, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS (including active distance, steering, and brake assist), PRE-SAFE belt pretensioning, ABS with EBD, and ESC.
Rivals
Nothing matches the Maybach exactly. At this price, it competes for the same buyers as the Bentley Flying Spur, the Range Rover, and the BMW i7, and it also sits above Mercedes' own S-Class range.

Our take
This is a case where the headline number matters less than who buys the car. The Maybach S-Class is a chauffeur-driven car, and the changes that count are in the rear seat. The shift to a plug-in hybrid is a notable step for Maybach in India, though it also means the V8 is gone. The small first batch and the share of S-Class sales that Maybachs account for suggest buyers in this segment are not hesitating.
