2026 Mini Countryman ICE Coming To India

The new Countryman retains the brand's signature styling but aligns closely with the newer JCW and electric variants. It features familiar circular headlamps, distinctive tail lamps, and bold alloy wheel designs that give it a modern yet unmistakably Mini identity. Inside, the cabin adopts a clean, contemporary layout with a strong focus on sustainability. Expect a centrally mounted circular display, a three-spoke steering wheel, and the use of recycled materials across the dashboard. In terms of size, this is the biggest Mini yet, measuring around 4.4 metres in length with a wheelbase of approximately 2.6 metres. The added dimensions translate into better cabin space, making it more practical for everyday family use.
Engine & Performance
Mini is expected to offer the Countryman in two variants for India. The Classic version will use a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing around 170 bhp, while the more powerful S All4 variant will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine delivering about 200 bhp. Both versions will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the S All4 variant will also feature an all-wheel-drive system for improved traction and performance.

Mini Countryman SE All4 Electric SUV

Mini has already introduced the Countryman SE All4 electric SUV in India, offering a completely different take on performance and efficiency. This all-wheel-drive EV uses a dual-motor setup producing 313 hp and 494 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.6 seconds. It is powered by a 66.45 kWh battery pack, delivering a WLTP-claimed range of up to 440 km. Charging capabilities are equally impressive, with 10-80% achievable in just 29 minutes using a 130 kW DC fast charger, while a full AC charge takes under four hours.
Visually, the SE All4 carries a sportier stance with JCW-inspired styling, 19-inch alloy wheels, and contrasting black elements. Inside, it features a futuristic cabin with a large round OLED display running Mini Operating System 9, along with features like a head-up display, premium audio system, and advanced connectivity options.
Verdict
With the return of the petrol-powered Countryman, Mini is rounding out its India lineup with a more versatile offering that balances performance, practicality, and brand appeal. The availability of both ICE and electric versions ensures that buyers have multiple choices depending on their preferences. While it may not compete directly on value with mainstream SUVs, the Countryman continues to carve its own niche with unique styling and a premium driving experience.
