The Indian subsidiary of BMW Motorrad has finally launched the new BMW Motorcycles in India. The two F 900 series motorcycles made their debut last year at the world's most famous exhibition dedicated to two wheels i.e. at the 2019 EICMA in Milan, Italy. The all-new BMW F 900 R and the new BMW F 900 XR have now finally made their way to our shores. These middle-weight motorcycles are the first BMW Motorcycles in India to get a BS6-compliant engine. The BMW F 900 R is a middle-weight naked Sportster while the BMW F 900 XR is an adventure sports tourer.
Starting with looks of the naked beast, the new BMW F 900 R looks really good. It takes design inspiration from the BMW Roadster concept and gets a sleek, sharp and aggressive design language. The naked design with exposed frame & engine, unique all-LED headlamps with a LED DRL, sculpted fuel tank, golden front forks and a fat rear tyre gives it an aggressive stance and it looks like an elder sibling of the G310 R. The bike is available in two colour variants: Style Sport Hockenheim silver metallic/Racing red and Black storm metallic. BMW calls it a dynamic, progressive and intuitive roadster.
The BMW F 900 XR is an adventure sports tourer and it has all the characteristics of a good touring machine. The F 900 XR shares its mechanicals and chassis with its naked sibling but differs in terms of styling, riding dynamics, suspension travel and other bits. It gets twin LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a bigger windscreen with a large fuel-tank and is longer, wider & gets a taller seat height compared to the naked Sportster. The F 900 XR is available in two colour variants: Light white & Style sport Racing red and BMW likes to call it an Unmistakable adventure sport with touring characteristics.
Powering these motorcycles is the same BS6-compliant 895cc, water-cooled, parallel-twin motor that churns out 105 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 92 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and it gets plenty of electronic aids too. Both the bikes get safety features such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), automatic stability control (ASC), anti-hopping clutch (slipper clutch) and cast aluminium wheels as standard. The BMW F 900 XR Pro variant offers additional features such as the Cruise Control, Gear Shift Assist Pro and the class-leading Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment).
The new BMW F 900 twins also get a 6.5-inch colour TFT screen with BMW Motorrad connectivity as standard. This system offers a variety of information and the riders can also connect their helmet, can use BMW Motorrad's Connected App and can operate the screen via a multi-controller placed on the handlebar. Talking about the price, the new BMW F 900 R is available only in a single variant and is priced at Rs. 9.90 lakhs while the BMW F 900 XR is available in two variants Standard and Pro and is priced at Rs. 10.50 lakhs and Rs. 11.50 lakhs respectively. All prices stick to Ex-showroom, Delhi.
