BMW To Rev Up Prices From Sept 1: Cars Get Costlier By Up To 3%

From September onwards, all BMW models on sale in India will see a price increase of up to 3 percent. This includes popular locally produced models such as the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, 3 Series LWB, 5 Series LWB, 7 Series, X1, X3, X5, X7, M340i, and iX1 LWB. While the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe currently starts at Rs. 46.90 lakh (ex-showroom), the brand's flagship BMW XM sits at the very top of the portfolio with a starting tag of Rs. 2.60 crore (ex-showroom).
Speaking on the announcement, Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India, highlighted the brand's continued momentum despite global pressures. He stated that BMW's growth in the first half of 2025 has been remarkable, but increased input costs have made the hike inevitable. Still, he reaffirmed BMW's commitment to delivering strong value, innovation, and a premium ownership experience, especially with new launches planned for the festive season.
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Overview

Launched just weeks before the price hike announcement, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has entered India in its second generation and instantly positioned itself as the brand's most accessible offering. Priced at Rs. 46.90 lakh for the 218 M Sport and Rs. 48.90 lakh for the 218 M Sport Pro, the Gran Coupe is locally produced and aimed squarely at younger buyers seeking sporty design and premium luxury at a relatively lower price point. Inside, the cabin sports a clean and modern layout highlighted by a curved infotainment display running BMW OS 9 and iDrive, frameless AC vents, and a three-spoke M Sport steering wheel with illuminated controls. The newly designed sport seats add a touch of performance flair while ensuring long-distance comfort.

Powering the Gran Coupe is a 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine, tuned to produce 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque. Paired with BMW's efficient automatic transmission, the car can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, with a top speed of 230 km/h.
Verdict
With the price hike coming into effect from September 1, buyers looking to bring home a BMW may want to fast-track their purchase before the increase. On the other hand, BMW's latest launch, the 2 Series Gran Coupe makes the brand more approachable for those aspiring to enter the luxury segment. Between its sporty looks, feature-loaded cabin, and aggressive pricing, it's a model designed to attract younger, first-time BMW buyers. While the 1.5L engine might feel not that punchy as other beemers, the cost to performance ratio is pretty good.
