Citroen C5 Aircross Launch Next Year; One Car Every Year Till 2023

Citroen announced its India entry last year and the first car to launch in India is the Citroen C5 Aircross. Recently, one of our 91Wheels group (which you can also join by clicking here) member interacted with Citroen India on twitter and received a very ambitious reply. Citroen claims to launch three new India-specific products - one vehicle every year till 2023.

Citroen is a French carmaker which is now stepping into the Indian market with the C5 Aircross SUV. The C5 Aircross will be a Compass-rival SUV and will be priced around 25 lakhs price bracket. Unlike the future products from the brand, the C5 Aircross is already on sale in the global markets for a long time now and it will be brought to India via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route. The C5 Aircross will only be launched with a diesel engine - 2.0-litre diesel engine with 180 PS, mated to an 8-speed torque converter gearbox. The launch timeline of the Citroen C5 Aircross is Q1 of 2021 and it will kickstart the brand in India.

Talking about the other three products from the brand - Citroen claims that the cars launched after the C5 Aircross will be made for India and made in India. It means that rather than rejigging the international models, Citreon will engineer new products for the Indian market and manufacture them in India to keep the prices in check. The first made in India product from the French marque will be a compact SUV. Citroen is working on a compact SUV (codenamed C21) which will be benefitted with up to 90-95% localization and it will help to price the SUV competitively.

Citroen is yet to disclose its third product for the Indian market which will be launched in India in 2023. Citroen has even opened its first dealership in India which is in Ahmedabad.
