Honda Navi Now Launched in US, Exported From India

Honda Navi costs $1,807 (approximately INR 1.34 lakh) in the US market and its deliveries are slated to commence in January 2022

The Honda Navi, which went on sale in India in 2016 and was later pulled off the shelves owing to low demand, has now been launched in the United States. With this, it has become the first made-in-India Honda two-wheeler to be launched in the US. Touted as a member of the manufacturer's 'miniMOTO' family, the Navi costs $1,807 (approximately INR 1.34 lakh).

Deliveries of the new model will commence in January 2022 (February 2022 in California) and the Navi will be sold in four colour options- Red; Grasshopper Green; Nut Brown; Ranger Green. It has become the third mini two-wheeler from Honda as the US market already has the Grom and the Monkey on sale but what makes the Navi an attractive proposition is its bargain-basement price tag. It must be noted here that the Grom costs $3,399 (Rs 2.52 lakh) and the Monkey costs $4,199.

At the moment, the specifications of the US-spec Honda Navi are not available to the public but we won't be surprised if they are similar to what we had on offer. At least visually, there's little to differentiate the US-spec model from the local version. The only exception here arises out of the revised instrumentation and the new turn indicators.

The Honda Navi was launched in India in 2016. While it did enjoy a pretty decent response initially, its sales frizzed out in the long run and the mini-scooter was ultimately pulled off the shelves in 2018 owing to the dismal demand. However, the Navi continues to be produced at the manufacturer's Rajasthan-based production facility for the export markets.

Speaking on the latest introduction in the US market, Brandon Wilson, Sports & Experiential Manager at American Honda, said,"From the original Cub to the Grom, Honda has a proud legacy of producing miniMOTO models that open doors to new riders, and the Navi is set to extend that trend even further. This miniMOTO checks all the boxes for new riders, like simple operation, a fun design, low operating costs and Honda reliability all for well under $2,000. Were pleased to make motorcycling possible for more riders by offering the Navi in the U.S.

The Honda Navi was displayed at the IMS Outdoors motorcycle show in Costa Mesa, California, last weekend. The Navi can be viewed as a cross between the Rucks and the Grom, both of which have enjoyed an iconic status in the US market. While it looks like a mini motorcycle, it offers several virtues of a scooter such as a manufacturer's V-Matic automatic transmission. It is even high on the personalization options, including the Honda Accessory graphics produced in collaboration with Icon.
