The messiah of the supercar world has made it to Indian shores as the country welcomes its first McLaren 620R limited-edition supercar.
McLaren has been a testimonial trademark in the category of supercar manufacturers. Founded in 1985, McLaren has been a testament in various racing championships including F1.
McLaren 570S GT4 became so popular as a racecar that McLaren decided to homologate its chassis & produce a limited set of 350 cars. Called the '620R' one of these limited edition car has found its home in India.
Delivered to Mr. Bharat Reddy in a custom blue shade this 620R is not only for the track but is also road legal. Once the rituals were completed, Mr Reddy took the 620R straightway to the track. What a lovely way to break in a race car engine!
McLaren 620R Exteriors

As it is based on the 570S GT4 race car most of the design comes directly from it. The aerodynamic scoops, front bumper splitter, bonnet & dive planes are all from the GT4.
The rear of the car has been embedded with a large spoiler which helps create a massive downforce of up to 185 kgs at 250 Kmph of speed. Even the front bumper splitter helps retain a downforce of 65 kgs at the front.
As GT4 is a race car, to make 620R road legal all the standard modifications such as headlights, taillights have been done. 620 R comes equipped with OEM 19" forged alloys at the front while 20" forged alloys at the rear. Pirelli P-Zero is the standard fitment for providing grip to this mammoth supercar. And did we tell that upward-opening doors are standard fitment to this?
McLaren 620R Engine Performance
620R uses the same 3.8 Lt, Bi-turbocharged, V8 layout engine. As this is a road-legal car, power has been detuned and the figures are definitely not 'modest'. It produces a mind-wobbling 620PS of peak power with an earth-shaking 620NM of peak torque.
All this power is put through the usage of a 7-speed dry double-clutch gearbox. Thanks to the engineering team of McLaren, 620R is one of the fastest McLaren's ever produced. This car can do an eye-watering 0-100 Kmph in just 2.8 seconds!
This performance is not just pure power but also clever engineering. 620R uses adaptive dampers from GT4 race car combined with 2-way manually adjustable coil-over springs.
With all this power McLaren decided to use the 15.3" carbon-ceramic brakes in all wheels that use 6-piston forged callipers for stopping the car in unbelievable time.

And the price is...
The base McLaren 620R price starts from $278,445. Then comes the options book with so many of them that each car shall stay put unique for a lifetime. If we include all the options, the freight charges, the delivery charges, the transport, the handling charges and other expenses, this one will cost you upwards of Rs 5 crores.
