The Jeep Wrangler has quite the rich (if not complicated) history behind it, and the American car maker has decided to take some advantage of it, by launching the Jeep Wrangler 1941 Willys Edition, with prices starting from Rs 73.15 lakh (ex-showroom), commanding a premium of Rs 1.5 lakh over the Rubicon variant, on which it is based.

Jeep Wrangler 1941 Willys Edition; Details
The Jeep Wrangler 1941 Willys Edition is a limited edition model based on the Rubicon trim, with only 30 units set to be offered. The core design has been retained and the SUV looks familiar, as it should. The 1941 Willys Edition exclusively receives this new Willys Military Green paint scheme, along with a 1941 decal on the hood. It also gets a roof carrier with a side ladder, along with the Sunrider rooftop, which are available as optional add-ons for another Rs 4.65 lakh.
In terms of features, the Wrangler 1941 Edition comes with powered side steps, a dual dashcam, and some other standard features include a 12.1-inch touch screen infotainment system, 12-step power adjustable front seats, an ADAS suite, a 9-speaker Alpine sound system and a tyre pressure monitoring system among other things.
The Wrangler's mechanicals have been left untouched, and it already comes packing with a heavy-duty full-float Dana rear axle, detachable sway bars and Tru-Lock front and rear locking differentials. The 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol powertrain has been retained, continuing to produce 268bhp and 400Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Once again, the Wrangler 1941 Willys Edition is limited to just 30 units all over India, which means you should probably act quick and book one before it gets too late!

Verdict
The Wrangler 1941 Willys Edition pays tribute to the original Willys Jeep and as it is, the American car maker has a rich history and legacy of producing tough SUVs made to go anywere. Jeep is taking advantage of this fact and this shall be a nice change of events to see from the car maker.
