The government of India is targeting an increase of EV mobility in India and hence is setting up EV charging infrastructure to further promote environmentally friendly EV- sustainable mobility.

Buying an EV is a prudent task due to aspects like product cost, battery range and most importantly, the availability of charging stations. However, need not worry anymore about finding charging points as the Indian Government plans to set up AC charging stations for electric vehicles within the time span of the next two months.

The government aims to reduce the cost of setting up an electric vehicle charging infrastructure within the two months target period. The price of establishing AC charging points in India will be as low as Rs3,500 per unit. According to our sources, EV manufacturers and suppliers of India formed a committee and performed multiple research to develop low-cost EV charging units.

These AC Charging points which is to be set up in India provides a power of up to 3kW to be drawn for charging electric two and three-wheelers. This low cost charging unit utilises less power than the charging units currently available in the market for two and three-wheelers.

The Government officials stated that parking lots at metro and railway stations, hospitals, shopping malls, apartments and even smaller shops is where the charging points are going to be set up.

According to the committee, these low-cost charging points can be fixed with a 220V 15A single-phase line.
