Externally, the 2026 Mahindra XUV700 facelift won't deviate drastically from the current model's proportions or body panels. The overall stance, bonnet, and doors appear unchanged, hinting at no revisions to the sheet metal. However, Mahindra seems to be focusing on redesigning the soft plastic components, namely, the grille, bumpers, and lighting elements. The front grille appears to sport larger air intakes, while the new twin-pod headlamp setup gives the SUV a more distinct identity.

Expect an updated LED DRL signature as well, which could mirror Mahindra's latest design philosophy seen on its concept EVs.At the rear, the test mule hints at a reworked tail-light design, possibly featuring a connected LED light bar, a trend fast becoming standard in modern SUVs. Fresh aero-optimised alloy wheels round off the changes, improving both aesthetics and efficiency.

Interior: A Tech-Forward Makeover

While the exterior sticks to evolution, the interior of the new XUV700 is set for a revolution. The biggest upgrade will likely be a triple-screen layout spied on previous occasions, similar to the one showcased in Mahindra's upcoming XEV 9s electric model. This setup could combine a digital instrument cluster, infotainment display, and a co-passenger screen into a seamless panoramic interface, dramatically enhancing the cabin's tech appeal.

The overall dashboard architecture might get a cleaner, more minimalistic look, replacing physical buttons with more capacitive touch controls. However, Mahindra is expected to retain key physical toggles for climate control, a practical move, given the SUV's focus on comfort and usability. Seating configurations will continue to include 6- and 7-seater options, catering to both family-oriented and premium buyers.

Powertrain: No Changes Underneath

Powering the upcoming Mahindra XUV700 facelift will be the same tried-and-tested engine options as before, with no major mechanical changes expected. The SUV will continue to offer the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 200hp and 380Nm of torque, alongside the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel unit that delivers between 155hp and 185hp and 360Nm to 450Nm of torque, depending on the variant. Both engines will be available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the diesel-automatic variant will retain the option of an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup.

Pricing will see a modest upward revision, given the expected tech upgrades and interior overhaul. For reference, the current model is priced between Rs. 13.66 lakh and Rs. 23.71 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict

The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 facelift looks set to refine what is already one of the most complete SUVs in its segment. While exterior updates will be evolutionary, the focus clearly shifts towards making the cabin more advanced, connected, and premium, aligning it with Mahindra's new-age electric SUVs.
