Mercedes C-Class Drops The 1.5L Petrol For A 2.0L Turbocharged Unit

News comes in that Mercedes-Benz India has updated the petrol engine of the C-Class with a 2.0l turbocharged BS6 unit. Earlier, the C200 came in with the 1.5L turbo petrol engine that was paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. With this upgrade, the power figures also see a massive increase.

The older 1.5l turbo petrol used to make 184 bhp, of course, the electric motor pushed in another 14 bhp and 160Nm of extra torque. This new 2.0L motor makes 204 bhp and the 0-100 km/h sprint is well achieved in 7.7 seconds. The engine gets the same 9-speed automatic transmission.

Apart from the mechanicals, nothing is changed in the BS6 petrol version of the Mercedes C-Class. Feature-wise it continues with the same LED high-performance headlights on the outside. The interior comfort features include wireless charging, midline 9-speaker sound system, all-digital instrument cluster and many more.

Furthermore, it also comes with driver seat memory function, powered rear blinder, folding rear back seat rests, roller sunblinds in left and ride rear doors, 64-colour ambient lighting, Audio 20 with HD Package, Smartphone Integration package and more.

The carmaker also provides Mercedes ME Connect as standard across all trims. It provides necessary information details like Parked Vehicle Locator, Vehicle Tracker, Hi-speed alarm, Remote Door locking/unlocking, Remote Retrieval of vehicle status, emergency call assistance and more.

Mercedes also offers the C-Class with a 2.0L turbocharged diesel and a more powerful petrol engine. The latter which is also known as the C63 S packs in a massive 4.0L petrol engine and costs well above Rs 1.38 crore, ex-showroom, Delhi.

The prices of the newly launched petrol C-Class starts from Rs 41 lakh and goes up to Rs 46.54 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Mercedes C-Class currently rivals with the BMW 3-Series. Audi A4 and Volvo S60 are yet to come with updated engine options.
