Now You Can Retrofit CNG & LPG Kits In BS6 Vehicles - Details

The retrofitting of CNG and LPG kits in BS6 vehicles has given official approval. Previously, only BS4 vehicles could be retrofitted with CNG.

A notification for the retrofitting of CNG kits in BS6 cars was drafted earlier this year by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The government has now allowed the retrofitting of CNG and LPG kits in BS6 compliant vehicles after a few months following the draft announcement. Additionally, MoRTH announced that diesel engines can be swapped out for CNG and LPG kits in BS6 cars weighing less than 3.5 tonnes.

CNG Maintenance Tips

"This ministry has notified retro-fitment of CNG and LPG kit on BS (Bharat Stage)-6 gasoline vehicles and replacement of diesel engines with CNG/LPG engines in case of BS6 vehicles, less than 3.5 tonnes," the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) said in a notification.

As fuel prices rise, CNG vehicles are becoming more and more popular in India. In addition to being less expensive, CNG also offers superior mileage than petrol and diesel engines. To entice more buyers, many manufacturers are releasing CNG automobiles on the market. As an example, Maruti Suzuki just unveiled the Swift CNG model. However, a lot of individuals continue to hunt for aftermarket CNG kits for their cars with petrol or diesel engines. For such people, this news will come as a huge relief.

CNG Retro fitment

CNG is an eco-friendly fuel that can aid in reducing the amount of carbon emissions produced by automobiles. According to the government, regular-fuel vehicles generate more carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, particulate matter, and smoke than CNG vehicles.
