The Naming Conundrum: Himalayan 450 or Himalaya

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450

Royal Enfield has taken an interesting naming approach with its scrambler motorcycle, the 'Scram 411,' indicating its engine size. Following this trend, the possibility of 'Himalayan 452' seems likely, should the leaked engine displacement number prove accurate.

In a significant departure from their usual offerings, Royal Enfield is introducing substantial upgrades to their single-cylinder lineup. The forthcoming Himalayan 450 embodies this transformation, boasting several groundbreaking features that are a first for any single-cylinder Royal Enfield motorcycle, or any Royal Enfield model, for that matter.

We're referring to the upcoming Himalayan as the pioneering single-cylinder Royal Enfield to feature LED headlights, a fully digital instrument cluster, any form of active engine cooling, USD telescopic front forks, a 6-speed gearbox, and more. Notably, this upcoming Himalayan motorcycle marks the first instance of a Royal Enfield bike incorporating liquid-cooling, LED turn indicators, and a fully digital instrument cluster into its design.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450: Launch Date, Price And Package!

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450

Royal Enfield is gearing up to unveil this new launch between October 30 and November 1, according to their 'block your dates' invitation. The expected price point for this motorcycle is around Rs. 2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). The centrepiece of this launch is undoubtedly the new engine, and there are several other noteworthy features to look forward to. These include a trellis frame, off-road-ready components like long-travel suspension, engine protection, luggage mounting points, wire-spoke wheels, switchable dual-channel ABS, and a tubular frame for jerry can mounts, among others.

What makes the Himalayan 452 (or 450) stand out is its potential as a versatile tourer. Its design incorporates a windscreen, an upright riding posture, well-positioned footpegs, and ample luggage-carrying capacity. In terms of competition, it will go head-to-head with existing adventure-styled motorcycles like the KTM 390 Adventure, but it's also set to face a formidable rival in the upcoming Hero Xpulse 440.

Verdict

If the leaked details hold true, it could become a top choice for adventure enthusiasts looking for a versatile and capable ride. The pricing is also competitive, making it an exciting addition to Royal Enfield's lineup.
