Skoda India Trademarks Five New Names - Compact SUV Coming In 2021!

It looks like that Skoda India is now all set to take on the market aggressively as it has recently registered five new names of its upcoming products. As per the listing on the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Patent Design and Trademarks portal, the brand has registered five new names. These new Skoda India Trademarks names include - Kliq, Konarq, Karmiq, Kosmiq, and the Koshaq. In addition, Skoda India is all set to launch a new mid-size SUV early next year which was first showcased at the AutoExpo 2020 as the Vision IN.

It is believed that the brand will be using the name KLIQ for the upcoming production version of the Vision IN SUV. However, considering the fact that the brand trademarked five different names, we are also expecting the Vision IN to have a different name than KLIQ. It is worth noting that the brand is no using names which start with K and end with Q. This particular type of nomenclature is currently being used to name the SUVs and thus we are expecting the brand to launch a number of more SUVs in the Indian market.

The Vision IN SUV is expected to be revealed in the first quarter of 2021. This upcoming SUV will be underpinned by the MQB A0 IN platform. This platform is said to be a made in India chassis which will be underpinning all the new made in India products from the brand. Once launched, the Vision IN-based SUV will be rivalling against the cars like the Creta and the Kia Seltos. We are also expecting the brand to launch this vehicle with a 1.5-L TSI engine which is believed to churn out 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque output. This engine will come mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox while the buyers can also choose the manual variant as it will be significantly more affordable than the auto variant.
